    Karl's appeal has nothing to do with intelligence. We like him because he's genuine. Most people, myself included, wear a mask of the person they want others to see. What you see with Karl is the real person.

Do you not see how clever he is? lol Karl was his product and to sell Karl to everybody he could possible sell him to Ricky had to throw himself under the bus and make people say Oh we want Karl not you Ricky, lol he is a genius and sold Karl to everybody and made millions from him and made Karl millions in the process. Anyway as far as Karl this Karl that, it is all Steve and Ricky has ever said and agreed with you lol.

I don't believe he was an asshole because he was smart, like Karl implied, I think he was just as asshole who was also smart, and used the fact that he is smart to make himself feel more entitled and better than anyone who isn't as smart as him. Karl said he would rather be happy than really smart and he told him that's not what life is about and to "fuck off". Well I feel sorry for him, putting intelligence over happiness. Karl really knows where things are at.

    "That last guy" is Will Self. Will Self has an incredibly dry sense of humour. The objective of the episode wasn't actually to find out whether being intelligent made you happier. This was a half hour tv slot designed to entertain people. Will realised this, and did an eccentric interview in order to entertain us. He didn't take the program seriously, and more importantly, didn't take himself seriously.

    MisterFuturtastic I think that could be possible, but because he is right about so many things, it just seems that too much correct info is being revealed for it to be disinformation. But then you look at it from another angle: why hasn't he been bumped off by these elites? Personally I think it would be too obvious and they don't or can't, but regardless, his shit is interesting to listen to.

  • @MisterFuturtastic

    Jordan Dodd That is what makes the disinfo so good though is to mix it with real info. It takes people off the real trail because he gains followers AND it makes it so people in the mainstream ignore the true info he provides. He is discrediting conspiracy theorists intentionally. But someone also brought up the possibility that someone from the elite tricked Icke by making him believe this reptilian stuff to make Icke discredit himself.

  • @jordandodd8543

    @jordandodd8543

    Your latter possibility is what I would think if Icke isn't legit, if anything. I don't watch his stuff any more, but for me he kick started a personal fascination with the universe and quantum physics. You want to talk about disinformation then lets talk about Alex Jones and his ilk! People like that almost always have their own selfish agenda, as they are basically fear-mongers saying everything is a conspiracy while at the same time offering ZERO solution. I'm sure Icke is loaded now, but how long has he been on this stuff, adding to as he goes? 25 years now? That sort of constant exposure kinda separates him from others, as a 25 year long 'plot' of any kind would be hard to maintain.

    17:50 Ok, I meet people like this at school who are equally as pretentious; he does some unnecessary ball head thing on Karl to, of course, seem smart and, as a bonus, comments on some imaginary gap in his brain. Karl takes a pipe, as directed. To that, Will mentions some Tony Ben to, again, sound smart and, again as a bonus, openly assumes Karl's ignorance for not knowing of this person. When Karl asks the question, "does intelligence equal happiness", Will claims it's not for him to judge, moments after calling Karl ignorant. The "fuck off" comment was just the tip of the iceberg. There are pretentious people everywhere. In fact, I've just sat here, typing a long opinion to make myself seem smart. No denial. But Will was very self-entitled and probably proud of what he said. I think Karl Pilkington is cool.

    The way Karl asks questions isn't exactly like Socrates but I think a lot of the questions he poses can be asked today and can lead to more understanding. It is a slight bit of thinking outside of the box. While sometimes you might want to blow him off completely he does ask questions that could lead to a better understanding of philosophy. AT the very least he challenges some of the steadfast philosophical questions. While he might not be the greatest mind I think that people with questions like his should at the very least have their questions considered.

    Actually, that's arguable. According to the Dunning-Kruger effect, you'd on average expect intelligent people to undervalue themselves. And unskilled/unintelligent people would overestimate their abilities because they'd fail to see their own ineptitude. In order to examine this though, you'd have to define carefully what you mean by intelligence/skill

    I find it amazing how the last guy is so condescending and tries to tell Karl what life is about. Meanwhile, judging from the obscene success of the Ricky Gervais podcasts, Karl's shows, and the nature of the comments in this video, Karl positively impacts countless more people than that last guy ever will. To me, Karl Pilkington is the funniest person that has ever lived, and one of the most interesting: think about it, how many other people do you listen to as often just to hear their everyday banter? Whether or not he's conventionally "intelligent," his impact can't be denied, and as misanthropic and cynical as he can be, I'm sure his impact is enough to make him happy.

    Will is a prime example of why "smart" people often come off as unlikable. I read an article not too long ago about political candidates that I think applies to people in general, the more intellectual they sound, the more unlikable they are. Considering the average IQ is 100 it makes sense. If you're not taking into consideration who you're talking to, you can often sound like you're talking "down" to them.

    I don't know why, but seeing Karl zoom along on the BMX bike like he was a kid made me feel kind of happy. It was a really cute way of bringing us back to his past when he was a kid, where we get to see the school where he grew up & all. When they get Karl away from Ricky & Steve, he seems sort of sad. Karl needs to hang out with someone like David Ike, who had the best message of all: "fuck 'em." He had ALL the answers. "Wisdom is knowing how little we know." People who think they know

    I think the guy at the end - Will - did hit the nail on the head though. He pointed out that Karl really didn't want to be more knowledgeable... he didn't want to be like everyone else. The key is that Karl is just stubborn. For some reason he doesn't want to deal with conventional intellectualism. And you can see that about him.. he is very frustrated and negative about the way people think. That's not necessarily a bad thing to want to be an individualist.. a lot of good things can come from that. We need people that go against the grain of conventional society.

    "he is very frustrated and negative about the way people think." I think that applies much more to Will than it does to Karl. Karl was open to try and learn from these other people and see what they had to say, how they think etc. while most of them quickly got frustrated with his way of thinking and shut him out. No patience, no desire to learn from him or understand him, they seem like the stubborn ones to me. Idk.

The world needs more like him, and less like the arrogant ass at the end, who serves no real purpose at all. At least Karl is relating to people, and getting us to think about what good intelligence does- thats something very worthwhile! I feel the way to live smartly, is to be like the woman he first interviewed: kind, and able to laugh- this will lead to the best life for yourself and others. Karl is curious to know things he doesn't know. If he asks a question about a certain topic he has no clue about. Does that make him stupid? No. Say for instance I didn't know anything about animals and someone said I was borderline retarded. Am I retarded? No. I as a 13 year old boy sitting on his phone at 1:00am can come up with that, then I'm sure Karl as a middle-aged man can do better. I may be knowledgeable about vehicles and how they work and such, but if I had no idea how a human eye functioned, would I be stupid? No.

    I really hate that the people get annoyed with Karl when he asks questions, even when some are silly questions such as the 'drawings of aliens' and such. There's no need to get annoyed. Just take the time to calmly explain your reasoning. Those kinds of reactions from so-called 'intellectuals' are exactly the reason some people are too scared of asking and seeking out new knowledge or coming up with new ideas. It's just stomping all over people, and shows closed-minded arrogance. Germaine Greer makes a good point about the difference between being clever and intelligent. Not everyone has the academic intelligence yet can still be smart
