Totally enthralling story teller, what I would not give to hear another lecture by Dr. Geza on the Romanovs themselves!

The dowager empress did not walk ahead of Nicholas. As a dowager empress ranked higher than the reigning empress consort, she would enter on the arm of the emperor.

Indeed. Probably he meant to say that she walked ahead of the Empress.( which is true)

What a missed opportunity for the VMFA to not have the speaker at least touch on how the Faberge collection came to the museum in Richmond. Disappointing.

He unwisely chose to lecture without the benefit of written notes, and made some slight mistakes. I think he meant to say the King of Sweden or the Swedish royal family and not , queen of Sweden(Silvia). That royal family probably received pre-revolution, Faberge items from the czar, or from family members, or subjects such as the Swedish / Russian Nobel family who were very significant Faberge customers, or from direct purchases.

Knowledgeable lecturer, but there were too many careless mistakes due to the speaker not using notes. Nobody has perfect memory, and even the greatest lecturers should use written notes. Some errors have been mentioned. Here are more: 56:31 That’s not Empress Alexandra’s sister. That’s Queen Alexandra of the UK, sister of Empress Maria Feod. 52:26 “Faberge was not part of the exhibition” is incorrect. He should have said that Faberge items were exhibited but were not a part of the competition. 1:01:15 error. When Edward died in 1910, it was his wife queen Alexandra, and not his daughter in law queen Mary who returned the cigarette case to Mrs. Keppel, the king’s mistress. 10:01:39 error: Mrs Keppel did not bequeath it on her death, but presented it to Queen Mary in 1936 which was 21 years before Alice Keppel died in 1947.

That's hilarious considering the fact that your museums are chock full of historical pieces you marched in and STOLE from other nations. Americans simply prefer to buy what they collect, rather than steal it.
