I don't think the complaining was about them having a healthy work schedule. The complaining was more directed towards Karina specifially for saying other idols would lie when saying they don't have time bc others probably often don't have healthy work schedules and/or have other shit going on too. Saying something like she said just seems really privileged. I don't know her really but she probably just said it without really thinking about the implications, maybe she even said it light heartedly as a joke (I don't know the original clip so I don't know) But yeah, tldr I think the complaining is not about her work schedule but about her assuming others have it "as easy as her"

@@audrayliar7480 i mean, it definitely wasn't as deep as people are making it out to be. context matters a lot, she said it after showing she finished the last level of a little mobile game, that's where her free time goes, every idol can potentially get SOME free time to do a silly little relaxing activity like playing a mobile game once in a while, even if they're overworked because let's be fr they're not gonna pull them off from music shows right away just to keep going with other stuff, i believe for the most part they stay through the whole broadcast and they should have free time backstage

A lot of work around the comeback is done a lot earlier even if they self produce and even when they are busy most of their schedules are a lot of waiting. Regularly even if they had 8h workdays (a lot can be done in K-pop in 8h cause idols schedules aren't really involved in staging or editing) that still leaves a lot of time to do whatever with your day.

Exactly. Idols usually have breaks while waiting for their turn to perform during promotions so they can have enough energy to perform well on stage. I remember this one ep where a show about The Manager. That show shows managers' of celebs showed a life of how managers manage their celebs. Seventeen literally had breaks and even napped in their waiting room as they started their day in the wee hours. They're not FULLY busy, they just had small breaks here and there to keep them fresh and have enough rest for them.

What happens is that idols tend to have both: -When there's comeback they literally have no time between practice, promotions and everything and thy sleep very little. -But in between comebacks they have months of complete inactivity where they have all day free.

her words makes total sense. we barely see idols progress over time which would be different if they were constantly working.

Even svt who has so many scheduled and making their own music and dance have time to have fun, meeting friends, playing Lego or watch anime. It just depends on how you manage your time. And company isn't deranged enough to really work a person 24/7. They're busy, yes. But human adapt. And circumstances aren't always the same. Sometimes the schedule will be super tight, sometimes it's not. so many things are prerecorded too. You'd think it's everyday things but it's 3-4 days of crazy schedule, then rest time. Idols also have treatment day, imagine if they're so busy they can't even go to dermatologist or hospitals for their frequent check up, etc etc. Their smooth glass skin isn't freely given since birth. What I'm trying to say is, it's silly to condemn karina just to spit some fact. Even if the fact isn't currently applied to your faves, but who knows. You're not in the business.

During busy (comebacks and tours) schedule, there's wait time in between sets, being on a bus, etc, it's their free time during busy schedule, it depends on how they use it, and karina for example knows how to utilize it. Dont forget after a comeback they can rest for a while until the next comeback

@@jiaverse if u really heard their story from live or at least in show, they do reveal they often hang out with their friend, and even their concert era a lot of fans sometimes meet the idol in shopping area/other public place just walk around and enjoyed their day, and its clear its their time off, and its even came from busiest idol nowdays like straykids, seventeen, TXT even blackpink, they do had time off, the company isnt that cruel to not let them enjoyed live, tbh trainee is the one who didnt had break time but after becoming an idol, they usually only got holiday during weekend and somtimes they still went to company to train bcz they feel they arent that good yet, its definitely more relaxing than become trainee

@@Arcessitor idols (general) DO have free time lmao. no matter how overworked they are they still have the "off" season (when they aren't preparing for a comeback) and even preparing for/doing a comeback has a lot of free or "free" time baked into it. idols spend the entire day waiting in green rooms to go out and spend like 30 minutes recording a performance. that's still free time, even if you can't do everything you want - it's a break at work. they can watch stuff on their phones, scroll on tiktok, play games, read books, call their friends and family, whatever they want (as long as they dont mess up their hair and makeup, presumably). definitely i don't think a lot of idol schedules are healthy or sustainable. but this is also something you can say about the extremely intense work culture in korea where people go out of their way to do overtime. hell, you can say this about like... every high school. every university. when i was in 11th & 12th grade, i used to only sleep for like 10-15 hours a week. i had to leave for school at 6:30 and only got home around 5-7 pm depending on the day because i had tutors for a couple of subjects i was struggling with. and then i spent like 6-7 hours doing homework and assignments and studying. and then i would choose to stay up later than i strictly had to anyway because i was a teenager so my body could handle it and if i didn't do anything fun i would've lost it. having an insane schedule isn't unique to idols lmao

However she can only speak for herself, idols all have different schedules with different intensity levels she has a lot of down time not just waiting time foe shows but also between comesbacks/tours. Ateez (who aren't even overworked just an example to show different schedules) we're on tour, produced music, recorded their mv, did promotions then went right back on tour again. They clearly had less time than Aespa who have months between their schedules most of the time. There are other idols rhat were going years before really getting re off, because every idols schedule is different fans are mad that she generalised and called idols liars even if that's not what she meant that is how it comes across.

Actually the aespa members are credited for some of their songs as lyricists. Karina’s recent solo song 'Menagerie' from their concert, she was credited as lyricist. So yes they do write their own songs too. 👍🏻

Nurses and surgeons work harder than idols yet they have personal life.

Idol work includes a lot of standing by, waiting, travel, and being somewhere for the sake of being there, so it makes sense they have a lot of time with nothing to do except being ready at a moment's notice, which is perfect for binge watching movies and grinding single-player games.

We all know idols' free time depends on their schedule and popularity and some idols do work like hell, but deny that being "busy" became a convenient excuse for idols is just stupid. It's funny that you got offended by the assumption of idols being liars when that is the only real truth. Idols be lying 70% of the time and that's okay, it's part of their job to deceive fans.

I think the reason why she received backlash for what she said was because she made it seem like all the idols who said they're busy/don't have extra time were lying. Like the next time we hear an idol reveal they don't have time to play or watch a movie, we'll automatically assume they're lying.

No she sees her experience and her experience isn't everyone's, that's why people are upset. Her comments were a generalisation at least that's how it comes off and just because she's experienced enough time to complete a game which takes hours upon hours doesn't mean every idol has had that same privilege. People are just saying she shouldn't talk for all idols based on her experience which is the truth in any situation.

it’s pretty known that idols get a day off at least once a week unless they’re on tour or something, & i’m sure as busy as they are they have a bit of free time out of their days. idols still go out & have fun like normal people when they’re not working. so she’s right in the sense that not all of them work 24/7

Idols no matter their schedule will always have free time. What varries is how much free time they have and how they spend that free time. Although, during busier schedules they'll use that time to rest which make others say they don't have free time because they want that time for themselves.

yeah, tbh idol work is kinda periodical, when its time to cb promotion and tour, they'll be super busy, but after that finish they'll got a good rest, we even could see many idol usually get more time to visit several place when they're on tour, so if they had tour for 2 days, they'll stay in there for 3-4 days, except if they had other schedule/when their tour is near korea/in korea

Why are they attacking this girl, she is the the industry and knows the behind the scenes and while I forget who it was maybe suga or rm of bts I remember another idol saying they do a lot of work in bulk and then they have a lot of free time idols do a large majority of their work or have the most packed schedules when they make a comeback because they have a lot of shoots and performances packed in but after that they are back on the slow grind because they record and learn choreography for months and have the occasional variety show shoot and vlive in and while in the beginning stages they may practice 8 hrs a day once they gain more experience those hours are halved and when the record they sing snippets at a time all the super hectic stuff like stage production,mv planning and more behind the scenes stuff is handled by staff and then they record the mv couple weeks before the comeback that edited and released and photo shoots are done around that time. So idols are busy but as karina has said they aren’t so busy they don’t have free time even idols who produce their own music enjoy doing it and have a in house team to help as well.

yall realize that as soon as promotions for one album is done they immediately start working on another one right? they have breaks and that's why comebacks are like 6 months apart and not 3 weeks

This may be the case for the big 4 or successful idols but for nugu groups from smaller companies it’s not the case. They’re overworked to the bone and don’t have time to eat and sleep let alone to play games. Nugu idols do promotions for months straight with no break and then u have these big idols that do 3 stages or even 1 and that’s it for their promotions.

I think the reality is probably that idols don’t have a ton of free time, but they do have a lot of dead time, ie time while riding around in vehicles, sitting in waiting rooms and make up chairs, and on airplanes. Pretty much the only option they have is to read a book, watch a video on their phone, or play a video game. Makes sense.
