Why don't people who suspect electric theft switch the outlet to 220 volt?? A few burnt out appliances should teach them.

I think what is very odd was your electric meter spinning rapidly without any additional loads hooked up. The other odd thing mentioned was what did she intend to plug the other end of the extension cord into.

Stolen Electricity... As an engineer, it would be easy for you to verify that the external outlet is on a dedicated fuse / circuit breaker. When leaving the cabin to return to the city, simply disconnect the exterior outlets. The miscreant would have to break into the house in order to steal your power. Alternatively you could put a secondary meter on the outside outlet circuit and shut it off during the week while you are not in residence. Any tampering to reconnect and you would have a record of the power stolen and you could charge the Karen for the theft. and recoup your losses.

This first story seems off to me. 1) Why would the lights be brighter than normal at the author's approach? With no illegal hookup at the time, they should be the same as usual. 2) Why would the meter be spinning more rapidly than normal at a time when the thief was not currently stealing power? They only spin faster when more electricity is drawn, not after or before. Since the thief hadn't hook up yet, the spin should be normal. I may be wrong, but this doesn't seem to add up.

Trying to be specific over a difference in BBQing and grilling so you can grill out despite it being against HOA bylaws is just trying to be a jerk. Then finding a loophole to grill out just outside of HOA property was another jerk move. How about just read the bylaws before buying the house in HOA territory and if you can not live by that then move somewhere else. They were wrong in reference to the dog, but OP was also wrong.

Seems the HOA people and the police didn't know op wasn't in the HOA boundaries. Seems before the police officer gave their speech, they would have made sure op was an HOA member. Those of the HOA sure didn't know where the HOA boundary was located. How hard is it to see a dog on a leash and the leash being geld by a person? The police in the last story should have given Karen several timeouts without being asked by the people treating the man. They actually should have arrested her after the first time hindering the man's treatment. She also doesn't know the difference between a first aid course and the courses EMTs and paramedics attend. They learn how to determine when a person with a head wound can be allowed to walk or when they need to be placed on a gurney, training not received in a first aid course.

On the first story since her car was on OPs property it would be towed and impounded costing her even more money to get it out if at all. Oh and of corse the story is fake. How is one to transport electricity for one's home in a SUV? It's not like gas that can be stored in a gas can. And any batteries that could store any real amount of power would be extremely expensive where paying the electric bill would be far cheaper. The second story is fake also. So many things about the story that is not actualy viable.

Yeah, that was my question, I could see maybe if she was a next door neighbor and the house was really close, but what could she have been powering in her SUV that'd take that much power? Did she have a chest freezer or something in the trunk? Would just charging all her devices or whatever use all that power? Also, he said the meter was spinning rapidly when he checked it, which wouldn't that mean that she was currently plugged in when he checked, and yet he had to do a stake out to catch her plugging stuff in?

@SCP_BrightAlt what part is incorrect? a super long extension or being 'off the grid'? Off the grid means you are not dependent on utilities that charge you. Being hooked up to a meter means he is paying someone for that electricity.
