KARATE VS KICKBOXING?! Sparring Icy Mike and HIS STUDENTS | Hard2Hurt
Спорт
The Question as old as time.. Can karate stand up in a street fight?! Is Karate good for self defense? Is Karate a good striking style for MMA or Kickboxing?! Well I met up with my buddy, Icy Mike from @hard2hurt and we get some good sparring rounds in! Everybody wants to see Icy Mike spar (not just icy mike street beefs), everybody wants to see Sensei Seth spar (maybe not everybody though). So we got some rounds in and I also sparred with @SenseiDavid and @taekwondo lifestyle and some of the other subscribers! Also, I may have landed some chubby surprises in there! This Karate fight is for all of the Karate Nerds, The Stephen Wonderboy Thompsons, the Lyoto Machida, the Gunner Nelsons, the Oliver Enkamps, and other Karate Nerds of all styles who want to make Karate work to the best of its ability in Kickboxing, MMA and more!

@@antonerayath8140 i think this is natural. most guys in a martial arts gym will have some bit of competitive nature to them , you also get people who have insecurities or ego issues often. but this is normal. to play fight takes a lot of discipline and self control. it made me admire the sparring in this video and the control they used and their ability to play and have fun.

I loved this one. Sparring is suppose to about learning. You guys did a great job. I love the different styles going against each other. My Grandson is in Taekwondo. I get to spare the kids and adults as a Army slash mutt style meaning I have sparred a bunch of styles and never focused on one it is great to learn new things. Seth do you have any videos on point sparring? I promised my grandson I would do a tournament with him when he got his green belt and of course he is a green belt. At 53 I think point sparring is the best for me and I am still learning. With a 30 years gap in training it is funny what you remember without knowing it. Thanks for the video.
The way Mike came into range in the intro was that a dragon tail sweep? Looked awesome and a interesting way to start combinations
:D 10:16 onward Nice relaxing music, Seth soft spoken commenting his fight, while in the footage background Cliff and blond dude start going to town on each other xD
I always enjoy your sparring but I especially enjoyed you sparring Master Dan and John. I was curious how Taekwondo would do against you. It’s heavy on kicks and your Karate is more balanced between kicks and punches. Plus karate black belts tend to control distances better. Master Dan clearly wanted to stay on the outside with you where John is trained in boxing so he’s more comfortable and appears confident in punching range. Does John have a channel? I already subscribe to Taekwondo Lifestyle. I’d love to see you do some more content with John or Master Dan.

Lol mike and his creazy acrobatics 😂 i wanna see him in a real sparing, hope time slows down there to 🤣
I miss training like that. Been to broke to go to a proper gym, and the one I was going to closed down. Not enough business. One of the combos I've been working on for about a year, is doing one of those tornado roundhouse, but to the leg, and then come up top with the straight. I saw my capoeira instructor do that on a tripod bag once and started practicing it. Haven't tried it in sparring yet. Ik you did the linear inside round with the straight in the video. The only thing is distance management. Since I'm not using moving targets, I'm not expecting a backwards movements, cuz that could potentially help my move, but use it to close distance. Kinda fun.
That sparring looked fun. Where I am we've been in lockdown since March so I've had about three sparring rounds in that time period. Been doing a lot of shadow boxing

Seth I know you guys do a lot of sparring so you frequently go light, I would like to see you guys put on vest, head gear and cups and go a little harder and actually do a lot of the things you faint, it would show what things are actually effective and what would fold under pressure especially with the threat of being thrown on your back or the how quickly high risk moves can be countered.
