Don't let 'age' be a barrier. I started karate at 70, and at 74 I am still going strong. For me, it's about maintaining health and fitness.

Wow! Awesome! I am 58 and I started when I was 54. People ask me all the time, “How and Why do you do it?” My response is, “It’s cheaper than a doctors bill and everyday in the Dojo, I feel so Alive!” Thanks for the inspiration. Osu!

Absolutely ❤❤❤❤
This is great to watch . I’ve done TKD on off for years . I’m now 56 and love being in the same class with my two boys , 13 and 8 .
I took up Karate too at 50 (done it for some years in my early 20s). Just do it within the limits of your body and mind. Nothing to prove, lots to improve.
Karate is a life long journey. Just enjoy the ride.
That's great! I am a 62 year old karateka - it doesn't get easier with age, but there is always a challenge and improvement. Keep it up!

I’m 61 and started in my 40’s. The biggest challenge is finding a dojo and instructor that recognizes that teenagers and adults can’t be trained the same. Most dojo’s incorporate teens into the adult class, and then attempt to train to their physical abilities. I think it’s the top reason older people don’t join, or join but don’t stay.
My heart swells with joy watching this video. OSU!!!
Thanks for I need this I'm 51 and had a hip replacement 8 months ago this has made up my mind to start shorin Ryu karate early next year.
I started again at 42 years old. Complete white belt. My biggest hurdle so far is the cardio-fitness level I need to reach to no feel like I'm dying during my twice-weekly 1 hour lessons. The rest is amazing though.

Thank you for sharing
On this very topic I made something here in England in good humour with awesome music, to see it you all simply type in the following title to the search field above…..Karate at 40 what you can achieve
Mr. Bergmann, you are very good. Your movements flow and you are very coordinated. Best wishes.
That’s awesome! Good for you. I got back into Karate about a year ago and my flexibility and coordination have improved significantly too 👍
I recently started at age 66.....just go for it.
Rock on!
That’s amazing! Keep going! You are in the best karate school on top of that!
So cool- I'm also 56 years old and started doing Taekwondo about 8 months ago. I joined with my boys (ages 10 and 13) to do something with them- but I'm also really enjoying it! I just competed in my first Tournament Sparing Match and did well against a guy 20 years younger than me- so felt really good about that. I'm glad to see other people enjoying martial arts past 50!
So nice💪💪💪👍👍👍keep on!
Great testimonial keep going
Excelente!! OSS!
Thank you so much I started Kenpo Karate at 55 so I understand the feeling indeed 💯💯💯
Right on brother
❤❤❤ amazing. I'd love to train there.
Franckly ? hat off. I'm tired by just imagining myself doing this with my 50 pounds overweight, I'm 54. I go back playing "fade to black" on guitar...

@@MachidaAcademyhi! I'm 51, and teach, which I really like... But I DO wish there was more content on soc media about how to teach certain personalities. I have a friend who is almost 60, nice guy but he's slow, very new to it and so whenever we explain that a move is done FAST, his brain isn't really understanding yet, maybe bc he just can't move fast. He's not overweight, it's just him. He assumes a knee to the face or middle will ALWAYS work. Ugh it's kinda exhausting sometimes. Ever feel that way??
Whoa!! Perfect timing. So I am a Functional Personal trainer and a Massage Therapist. I've always had a thing for martial arts but never had the chance to get into it, now at 54 I decided to try it out and surprisingly I did pretty good on my first day. My sensei is super patience and knows his craft. I look forward immersing myself more into it as it compliments my strength training. Ohh I am also learning Japanese 😊😊 Better to try something than leaving without trying ❤❤
