It depends on the federation in traditional shotokan federation like JKA if im not mistaken has all the side kicks executed by snapping (keage) except for the 2 bassai katas and nijushiho which are thrust (kekomi) In my federation or the WKF then both snapping and thrusting are interchangeable except for bassai dai/sho and nijushiho which are always thrust.

If you want more power in the side kick, watch Joe Rogan and his side kick. I've never seen anybody kick a side kick with such power. It blows my mind whenever I watch him doing it. It's a scary kick.

Hey Man I love these videos! I am Muay Thai guy but like to integrate a very small amount of Karate and Taekwondo variations onto some kicks that I use a lot in Muay Thai just to throw people off lol so I don't know the kick just through the Karate name so I have to watch a video of someone doing it a few times full speed to even know what the kick is so the tips dont help me much sadly I think at the start of the video you should show the kick and then explain it after an example of it. Love the work man keep it up!!

this might be useful, but the rotation of the back leg is too hard. As you rotate from the Kibadachi stance or Front Stance your back leg should rotate. The hard part is as you practice on the mat it's way too hard to maintain balance and rotation.
