Hey guys this week we are in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan. Yeah, so Karakol (Каракол) is a place that we've actually visited last year but we were only here on a day trip so we didn't get to see a whole lot. Right and this is basically the adventure capital of Kyrgyzstan. There is a lot of good hiking, you can take boat trips. So we're just going to show you like what you can do in and around this area. Let's
Our first stop was the Dungan Mosque. This mosque is unique because architecturally it looks a lot like a Buddhist temple; this is because it was built by the Dungan community, an ethnically Chinese people group who follow Islam.
Another iconic place of worship in Karakol (Каракол) is the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church. This is a traditional Russian wooden cathedral complete with onion domes.
We also squeezed in a quick visit to Karakol’s History Museum, which has a rather fascinating taxidermy collection.
Okay so it is dinner time here in Karakol (قاراقول) and the sun has gone down and today we are going to be doing a traditional meal with a family.
So we're going to be preparing Ashlyanfu (Ашлян-фу) which is a cold noodle starch soup and then we're going to go into their home and have a nice family dinner together.
And because we love our food, we also took a cooking class where we learned to make a traditional Uyghur dish: laghman (Лагман).
As far as day trips go, one nearby attraction from Karakol (Каракол) is Jeti Oguz known for its red hills. It’s about a 30 minute drive and you can easily hire a driver to take you out there.
Last but not least, one of the most popular things to do in Karakol (Каракол) is hiking. This is considered the adventure capital of Kyrgyzstan (Киргизия) with many hikes and horse treks starting right in town.

Kyrgyzstan wasn't really on my radar, but it looks like an incredible place to visit. I've been looking at Mongolia for horse trekking and similar activities, but I would definitely add this one to my list. Thanks for the video!

I am! I am starting a year of travel In August and will be spending the first three months in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Russia. It has been a lot of planning, visas, studying Russian and more. Though I am finally ready to go! ^^

The Kyrgyz noodle and rice dishes look very appealing. I wonder if there are a lot of varieties of either noodle and rice dishes, different kinds of sauces, ingredients, preparations and so on.

A mosque can look like any building. Actually Budhhism originated in India and Buddhist temples also can look different depending on the country. That mosque architecture in Karakol you see is Chinese style. Many mosques in China also look like that. Anyway thanks for showing it ! I'm glad many people are knowing there is Chinese Muslims :) I am one and I'd love to visit Kyrgyzstan someday.

It's Asian because it's in Asia. Why would it be European? By the way Turkic people originated in Central Asia.
I hope the "chicken bones" you fed the dog weren't cooked. Raw they can digest. Cooked can be dangerous; splinter and cut their digestive tracts. To anyone reading this, please don't feed cats or dogs cooked bones. If you give them bones, make sure they are completely RAW - like they would find in Nature.

There are no influence in language from China in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz is a turkic language (like Turkish) and use cyrillic letters like Russian.

Mr Twister But well the Dungan (東干族 / Дунгане) who are Chinese Muslims in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan etc.) speak Mandarin Chinese with some Russian/Kyrgyz loanwords and they write the Chinese language in a modified Cyrillic script as well. Also most Kyrgyz dishes are indeed influenced by Chinese culinary traditions - lagman is a loanword from the Chinese lamian (拉麵; “pulled noodles”) which also lent its name to the Korean “ramyeon” and Japanese “ramen”; manti is a loanword from the Chinese mantou (饅頭) which also lent its name to the Korean mandu.
