Also, if you want a more personal Kanye album that describes more of his internal struggles then I would recommend 808s and Heartbreak. It's also one of the most influential albums of the past 20 years as it helped shaped the modern Hip-Hop sound, specifically the Atlanta sound. You have probably already heard a few singles off of it, like Heartless and maybe Love Lockdown and Amazing.

Cudi was like Kanye's prodigy after Cudi's first mixtape he started working with Ye. Cudi heavily influenced Kanye's "808s & Heartbreak" album and even co-wrote a decent amount of tracks. They would continue to work together for a long time (cudi features on Ye's albums quite a bit). Ye was featured on Cudi's first 2 LP's & up until a year or two before Kids See Ghosts came out is when they had beef i forgot what for and then the new beef between them was because Cudi was still freinds with Pete Davidson. & it's highly unlikely they will collaborate based off what Cudi said in a recent interview with a magazine I forget which one. Glad you enjoyed this album! it's one of my favorites of all time!!

@@GB-np4pi I've listened to every Kanye album for atleast 15 hours, I've listened to mbdtf for 30 hours (no pun intended) and I can say with 100% confidence that he has better lyricism on the college dropout, late registration, the life is Pablo and ye. Even donda has better lyricism. Like I said its got some of his best songs but that's all down to its incredible production and features, aswell as the exception being runaway, being one of his most lyrically potent and introspective songs. I'm not here to argue, I'm just pointing out that people shouldn't go into mbdtf expecting it to be Kanyes best, because it isn't and shouldnt hype it up toouch, and should just enjoy the album for what it is instead of being dissapointed when it isn't what was promised. Seriously look at every track on mbdtf and compare it to the college dropout and you will soon see the shift in lyrics. It isn't bad that Kanye wasn't as lyrical on mbdtf, I believe that allowed him to play into his strengths and let the production shine through, but his previous albums are far more interesting narratively and have much more depth past their production (graduation shares these same issues but to a lesser degree and has better songs in my opinion, but I don't blame people for liking mbdtf over graduation either) I'm honestly not here to argue, it's fine if you think it's as good as people claim, but I'm just trying to make sure it's not too overhyped as it does have its fair share of glaring issues that usually go ignored within the wider Kanye discussion, when people like to write off any mbdtf criticism and call it one of the greatest albums of all time, it's not fair to new listeners and not fair to Kanyes artistry. Kanye is a great artist, but I have no disillusions of his flaws both as a person and writer, and will not pretend he is a great rapper, as its simply not the case. Anyway I'm good, soory for the long comment, I just wanted put some more thoughts out there and maybe see what could be said, that's all. 👍

I'd recommend listening to his (now self-titled I guess) album Ye. KSG and Ye were released within weeks of each other and I've always kind of put the 2 together in my head. The openness and vulnerability of Ye carries over into KSG as both albums explore Kanye at a very specific and turbulent moment in time, Ye also has ghost town part 1 which is arguably his best song imo.

This album is such a strong 10 and still has so much replay value to this day. It's so special and unique, and the fact they were able to do all of that in just 23 minutes and with 7 songs is truly brilliant. Both Kanye and Cudi has 10s in their discography and both has classics. Idk if we'll never get another Ye&Cudi song, and we'll probably won't get Kids See Ghosts 2, which is very unfortunate. Cudi is indeed a leader. That one line at the end of Ye's verse in 4th dimension is something he's known for. He's known for having some really clever word plays and some clever punch lines in his songs. You should definitely check out both of their discographies. Kanye's discography is probably the greatest hip hop discography of all time, he never released a bad album (JIK is like a 6, maybe a 5 on a bad day)

Not sure if anyone else explained it, but the length of 7 tracks was a theme for the year when this dropped. Kanye decided to self produce his own album, this collaboration with Cudi, and albums for Pusha T, Nas, and Teyana Taylor. The tracklist only being 7 tracks was explained by Pusha T simply: "Man, if we can't kill you in seven songs, we don't really need to be doing the music". This came after a cultural shift in hiphop towards longer albums with tons of filler like the Migos Album Culture II which released earlier in 2018.

Kanye and Kid Cudi have collabed since the album 808s & Heartbreak in 2008. Kanye met Kid Cudi at some record store and hit it off from there. I'd recommend listening to 808s and Heartbreak and Ye if you want to hear more of the introspective of Kanye. Kanye made Ye and Kids See Ghosts and produced a some more albums, like Daytona which I have to mention, in the Wyoming sessions over the span of weeks in the summer of 2018. The result is really incredible for the amount of time spent.

Hi! I just found your channel in my recommended because I watch a lot of content creators react to some of my favorite music such as Kanye and Kendrick. I just finished the Mr. Morale video and I just want to say that was one of the best videos I’ve seen in a long time. The way you analyze but still take time to listen to the music raw is beautiful. The post edit commentary to add some additional thoughts you may have not had during the first listen is also great and a very refreshing idea. I’m very much looking forward to seeing more from this channel and i do recommend discography runs, especially for Kanye and Kendrick. I can tell you like great production, story telling and lyricism and these two don’t lack on that matter. Anyways, thank you for being so authentic and creating great content! Great video! The fact that you reacted almost the same as I did 4 year ago made this kinda nostalgic for me. It also shows that this album has not aged a day since the release. The way it blends so many generes like Rock, Grunde and Hip Hop still makes it sound uniqe to this day. It feels so fresh and yet so well developed like Kanye and Cudi have been crafting and perfecting this in secret for years. There is not a single second wasted on this album it's so dense like a 7 track best of album. I also love the cover art and even the titel to a almost unreasonable degree. I like a lot of Kanye and Cudis work but everything about this projekt is just so perfect to me that sometimes it almost feels unreal humans made this. That is proably the greatist thing art can achive.

Definitely go through Kanye's discography in order. How he acts is questionable but you gotta understand he's still human and, funny enough, his music humanizes him. Going through his albums in order and understanding what was happening in his life around each time he dropped an album is important for context. Whether you like him or hate him, there's no denying he's pushed music forward and he's truly one of the best when it comes to music

For both Kanye and Cudi, this album came at a point where they both began to recover from mental illness. Kanye since the passing of his mother and Cudi with drug abuse had sent both into a depression where in the late 2000s, they began working together. A decade after their first collab, this is a reflective album outlining their respective experiences with mental health struggles. To me, the title "Kids See Ghosts" is reflective upon the misconception that until recently mental health wasn't and still isn't taken seriously in men. On top of that, a week before Kids See Ghosts released, Kanye released Ye, another 7 song album that dives into his personal relationships and how they have been affected by his mental struggles. KSG is the second half of that experience, which outlines his understanding of his shortcomings. As for a recommendation, to see where Kanye and Cudi come from in their respective mental health journeys, listen to 808s and Heartbreak from Kanye (Has a cudi feature) and Man on the moon 1/2/3 from Cudi. Im glad you loved this album, its one of my favs!
