Kansas City, MO (May 17, 2015): Mike Carter, President/CEO of the Carter Broadcast Group and Bob Kendrick, President of the Negro League Baseball Museum took part in the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Royals-Yankees game on Sunday. The ceremonial first pitch honored both the Salute to the Negro Leagues, as well as the Carter Broadcast Group's 65th Anniversary. The Carter Broadcast Group was founded by Mike Carter's grandparents Andrew "Skip" Carter and Mildred Carter in 1950, which was the nation's first Black radio station west of the Mississippi River, and is still the longest continually black owned radio station in the country. The Royals wore the Kansas City Monarchs uniforms worn from the era of 1950-1953, which also honors the late Ernie Banks, who played for the Monarchs in 1950 before going onto have a hall of fame career in the major leagues.
