Great video! I remember going to visit family in Mendenhall, MS back in the 90's. My aunts home sat a block away from then Illinois Central's line. I loved seeing the long haul trains come through with a few locals.
Awesome video! One of the best.
That KCS train coming into Hattiesburg was crossing the old airport road crossing in the Palmers Crossing community. I taught school over there in that community and I would watch the trains pass by while teaching music classes.
I love the KCS S5T Horn on the Geep pulling the local
Awesome video I live on the south side of Hattiesburg right off the NS NO/NE line to NOLA and about ten minutes from the depot great to see some local stuff. Thanks for sharing
I always enjoy these videos. Always very informative and great scenery. There was one engine when it blew its horn reminded me of the blue Conrail engines, don't remember which one. Looking forward to the next video
Really enjoyed watching this as a railfan from the UK its really interesting to hear of various railroads history....and your videos are clear and informative so thankyou and very well done

Thank you! That means so much coming from you.
I'm originally from Long Beach MS which is right next to Gulfport. Used to watch the KCS as they arrived in Gulfport. Thank you for making this and reminding me of my childhood.

The railroad I have fond memories of is the Illinois Central Gulf. Also the L&N which had the passenger trains.
Im assuming that engineer running the Bessemer unit was not too friendly to railfans based on the blurred out video!

No, he did something stupid that would have gotten him fired if I left it un-blurred.
Very interesting video DIB from a person that's never been that far south. It's also interesting note that the BLE 907 is the engine that I've seen with the new style walkway mounted air conditioner. Always looking forward to seeing your next video,!
Exstreamly interesting, nice graphics, informative regional coverage and very well done! Anyone, what was the white vapor coming from what looked like the last tank car?? Plus, are all boxcars tops painted white?? More vedios please!! 👍👍
KCS is the only class 1 railroad I haven’t seen yet, I really hope I get the chance too before it’s too late. And holy cow, I have no idea how just those 2 locomotives were able to handle such an unbelievably long train, thanks Precision scheduled railroading lol

If you ever wanna see every major class one railroad drive through the port of Houston or Houston yards. You’ll see every major class one, rare motive power models, and a ton off odd ball schemes and locos that work the plants and locals. It’s a bummer kcs/cp is happening in the sense that I feel like they have by far the best class one paint scheme, but im excited for Cp’s next 2860 Hudson to make its Canada-Texas-Mexico tour

It was nice to view this video again Drayton. What additions or corrections did you make to the narration to warrant uploading this video again?
Great video. Thanks for making and sharing...
Awesome video & great narration, thank you.
I grew up in Brookhaven Township, Long Island, NY. Within that township was a small town named Brookhaven. Must be an interesting story of how far that name traveled over many miles.
I’ve seen trains run through Richland as I’m from Mississippi and currently live in the state. I’ve taken photos of KCS 2954.
Awesome video friend!!
As of right at this moment, I see locomotive 3205 (the lead engine @4:10) almost every day. I see her at a yard I pass by on the way home near New Orleans at Jefferson along with SD40 number 3206.
That mentioned E-W route from Dallas TX to Shreveport LA is a historic and busy line that basically parallels Highway 80. Many of the old towns along 80 are great places to watch trains, especially Wills Point downtown area. Wills Point used to be a major coal and water stop during the steam era as it is about the half way point between Dallas and Longview before crossing into LA to Shreveport. They dug a massive reservoir with its own pump station in the middle just to keep the water towers filled. It's now called Willow Lake and a private residential area, but the concrete platform that once supported the pump station is still standing. Longview has a large BNSF yard that just about every important line in the area joins into somewhere. The original yard from the steam era has had a lot of track removed and is fairly rough, but the old Y track used to turn steam locomotives around is still in place despite being shortened. Even though it's mostly UP trackage with the BNSF yard, KCS has a presence in Longview and the distinct paint jobs on their locos really makes them stand out. They normally run 2 newer -9/4400 style units pulling long mostly intermodal freight VERY SLOWLY through Longview usually with a helper in the middle. Never get to see any of their older units passing through, unfortunately. Also, I really hope the KCS paint schemes stay on their locomotives. That's the nicest paint scheme on any modern Class 1 RR out there. The CN units that pass through here just look bland.
I rail fanned KCS High Oak Yard Twice and still got some good EMD
SD40-2 3205 was given the retro belle paint scheme in 2019 in the deramus yard paint booth
Great stuff!
Engineer of 3219 sure likes his horn doesn’t he?

Need to come back and catch the rock
Great video
Incredibly heavy train
Something I would like to point out. The KCS 3219 and 3205 are indeed SD40-2’s but the KCS 6092 is actually a SD40. The one difference is the number of holes on the wheel trucks. An SD40-2 has 6 holes on each side of the locomotive. An SD40 has 4 holes on each side of the locomotive. Nice Train Video as always.

awesome video! hey, is that kcs cn merger actually going through? ty
Were you using a video drone to catch KCS?
what's with the reuploads?
Ok , is this a recent video? Because there’s a lot of familiarities in the first 25 minutes.
I want to ask a Question Has the CP KCS Merger been Approved by the Surface Transportation Board???? I don't think CP Rail will Abandoned the KCS Gulfport Subdivision
Why does the train appear to be rocking around @4:10?
@ridleyscurry2480
2 жыл бұрын
I think it is rocking. The ties might need replacing or something, because I think the rails or bending in spots as the engines run over them

S buy.
wow! these standard ge widecabs of todays rails ...are boring to watch compared to the wicked sound these old sd40-2s produce! Even the horns of today sound monotone /muffled and boring...compared.....These locos sound like they are saying..."GET OUT OF MY WAY>>CAUSE I WILL TEAR YOU UP!! Kinda like a rattlesnake giving you a warning stance.."I MEAN BUSSINESS"!!
Too bad it doesn't exist anymore.
