If you read the Kanan comics, you'll understand a lot more why Kanan hates clones and why he never trusts Rex. Spoiler if you haven't read the comic: Kanan was very close friends with two clones, commander grey and captain style. When order 66 was issued the two troopers along with every other clone attacked Kanan and his master. His mater sacraficed herself for Kanan and I believe it was either style or grey that shot her. This was not only a tragic moment for Kanan because he lost his master, but he also felt betrayed by one of his best friends who no longer saw kanan as a friend but as a traitor to the new galactic empire.

I wouldn't blame Kanan for distrusting the Clones. They caught me off guard too when I first watched Episode III. Then after watching the Clone Wars, I became more disappointed since the Jedi and the Clones were sometimes close with each other during the war. @@Demaad I don't know if it redeemed them so much as it showed just how, well, weird of a culture they were a part of. They really aren't soldiers, they're machines that just happen to be flesh. They didn't have a choice in participating in the war and while Rex and others take pride in fighting under the Jedi, it is absolutely not a choice for them because of how they were created. However, you do get the feeling that for many of them, including Rex, winning the war would have meant that, maybe, they would have been treated like people. We see as the series went on that they began to enjoy more freedoms and developed their own little society, which makes Order 66 just that more awful because it makes their freedom impossible.

Because the inhibitor chip him nor any of the other clones could control themselves, because "Execute Order 66" was basically the code word for the chips to activate. But once it was removed from Rex he did save Ahsoka, so in a sense he betrayed her but didnt at the same time

I think a lot of us are rewatching these scenes from rebels after order 66 happened in clone wars. it honestly makes you really feel what they meant in rebels and how they felt after seeing order 66 play out in clone wars, I think seeing order 66 play out it brings a little more light to rebels, i mean because a lot of people hate on the rebels series, i personally liked it but after seeing order 66 play out in clone wars this really does hit a little different than just watching rebels before. because in clone wars it showed canan as a kid for a brief second but still. But this also now makes me want some sort of series in between clone wars and rebels. because rebels is 14 years after episode 3 & now technically after season 7 of clone wars, so now its like i want to see a series that has a kanan ark leading from the events of order 66 up to rebels and same thing for ahsoka, like i know some people want to know what she did in between then, along with even though it says how she got her new lightsabers in her book, from an inquisitor's blood into a cyber crystal. like i kinda wanna see that and just anything she did in between the time of episode 3 leading up to rebels but then again thats just stuff from in between episode 3 & 4 so they probably wouldnt. but then plus some sort of ark for her looking for ezra, after rebels which would be sometime in episode 4 or after. Cause just being able to tie everything in is kinda cool. especially after watching shattered. Because i watched the ign video where it ties each event of order 66 in both the movie and clone wars as it happens which actually was pretty cool to watch each event of order 66 tied together. Thats kinda the reason i wanna see something that ties in each episode and shows the events in between and leads into the next

+h1ph0pjunk1e Kind of an old comment but basically Order 66 was set up before the Clone Wars so that if the jedi tried to take over the senate for whatever reason they would be unable to. The clones were told that the jedi were traitors and since the clones had stronger ties to the republic than the jedi they were obligated to follow orders. I personally think that this "control chip" thing is stupid and just kind of seems like a cop out to explain this to younger viewers.

It is worth noting that the control trips weren't really some form of mind control device. The chips were actually designed to deter the clones natural inclination to defend the Jedi. The original clones (the 1.5 million batch from Kamino that is, the clones you see at the end of Episode two and every clone mentioned until the beginning of episode 3) were conditioned with absolute loyalty to the jedi. This was done as part of the "Great Jedi Purge" plan. Unfailing loyalty prevented the jedi counsel from sensing the impending genocide. The chips deterred them from over thinking the order (a rough explanation but there you go) the final batch (the 3.5 million from Centax 2/Arkaanian micro, the clones you see at the beginning of Episode 3) were instead flash trained with loyalty specifically to the supreme chancellor and thus did not come equipped with the chips.

“I didn’t betray my Jedi” Ok before you meme this into oblivion, remember how Rex described the feeling of being unable to control the urge to fire upon the Jedi? How can you betray someone when it’s literally like something in your mind takes control of your actions setting you on autopilot without a chance to question or argue the coming actions you will befall on? So no. He DID NOT \Betray\ his Jedi.

Well, it would have taken the support of the senate as well. He could have called a emergency session and exposed him. He thought he had to act quickly and he did.

To those feeling "Shattered" contradicts this remember: "Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view". (Old saying from the High Ground) Is it truly betrayal if he was conditioned to do it? He tried to fight back the instinct right? Don't forget that Rex has had about 15 years or so to rationalise Order 66, what he says and how he feels may well be two *very* different things...

Yes still is . You did not negate the assertion that rex betrayed ashoka you just provided an explanation on why he should not be blamed for it. Although yes i would admit that he did his best to resist order 66 for a few minutes and even giving ashoka precious information . This is his way of saying i won't able to help myself but you can help me fight order 66. It was up to ashoka tano to help or not. She could have choose not to . The fact that ashoka helped meant that it was ashoka who did not betray rex trust not the the other way around. To be fair rex did apologize to ashoka for almost killing her and help her when the ship crashed so all is forgiven
