Classic 1 with a charcoal basket and smokeware chimney, job done. Kjc1 now comes with metal side shelves. Does only have a felt gasket but an easy upgrade when it falls off (they all fall off even the posh ones)

The classic 2 comes with aluminium side shelves now. Got mine nearly 2 years ago and it has them.

I use a Gorrila bucket for catching the ash, come in all sizes and are flexible enough to push under ash drawer, seems to catch most of it on my classic 111

Hi mate! Would you recommend big Joe 2 or classic 3?

if you're cleaning out cold ash I put a black bin bag open in the cart, it kind of tucks in under the KJ and the ash falls into that

I got my classic 1 last December and it came with the aluminum side shelves. Right now I'm waiting for the blackstone with the hood to become available in Europe. Eventually I want to add a big joe 2 or 3.

nice! they don't list them as a feature on the website but maybe they have added them to all grills. It would be nice if they did. I'll have to do a video soon on the Blackstone with my thoughts

@Barbechoo I think they did add them to all classic and big joe models. I've heard other people mention it as well. Also the multi piece firebox is standard on the series 1 now. I got the classic 1 as a Christmas gift and added a slo-roller and charcoal basket. The added depth of the 3 does sound very nice. Yesterday I smoked a beef shank and it took some work to get it to fit and still close the lid. With the added depth the grate would sit lower and it should have been easier. Either way you can get great results.

I have the classic 1 and the kettle Joe. The kettle has the charcoal basket and a better cart. But I have the exact same problem trying to get ash out the kettle Joe! Hoping someone has mastered this problem.

Haha I'm guessing I just haven't got the technique down yet. It's not a big deal but would be nice to cut down on the clean up lol

Classic II with an ash basket and you're nearly there, save the money for meat. I personally think the slo roller is massively over rated. I don't know what KJ were thinking of when they used teflon to coat it. I've seen many post of it flaking and people melting them (aluminium) too. Whilst thats on them, I think the slo roller appeals to new bbqers. For seasoned pros running indirect on a classic II Vs SR on a III, there's not a lot in it. Maybe a video for you James!

There are some other features like the extra cooking levels that are nice. I've seen a few melted sloroller systems. It does state clearly that it shouldn't be taken to high temps but I guess everyone makes mistakes. I haven't had it long enough to give a full opinion but I did like the sloRoller for a low and slow cook, not sure what the difference would be in an average roast

It's not an ad, nobody has paid me to say anything or told me what opinion to have. I said at the start of the video that the classic iii was given to me and I was part of the firesquad.... that doesn't stop me from giving my own opinions
