Kamado Joe Classic 3, Unboxing and Assembly

This is the most detailed video on how to build a KAMADOJOE Classic 3 grill.
Most videos out there will not show you the following:
- how to safely and properly lift the ceramic grill
- how to build the cart because it used to come already assembled
- show you a layout of all the parts included in one shot to give you a better understanding of everything that comes with the grill
- how to properly store your slow roller components in your cart

We have a lot in common, well , I am 44, I have a young daughter too, she came out in my pork chop video, we both own a kamado style grills, and post you tube videos. You too man, keep posting, all this is so positive and helps out so many out there and best of all is all the delicious food you get to make. One of the things that really motivates me is knowing that my daughter is super picky in eating but when I bbq she loves all of it. Very helpful - given that the owner's manual is incredibly minimal and basically says nothing about how to properly install the slo-roller with the grate NOR the accessory plate with the heat deflectors, this was an incredibly useful video. Thank you. Very well done. Just incase you do not own this, I highly recomend purchasing the soap stone for steaks, in my opinion it is by far the best KJ accessory for steaks. I tried all the cast iron grills, skillets and other accesories and none come close to the soap stone. I will have a video about making the perfect steak and soapstone in the near future, right now I am still experimenting. Thanks for you feedback, it is greatly appreciated. please excuse my typos, thanks again Alberto.

    Wow Dan, you really pay attention to details. You are 100 percent correct about this. I never even realized this and even went back to the book to see what's going on. This is my mistake. What happened is that my Kamado came with less washers than indicated in the book. The book shows a total of 8 washers for the bottom shelf and I only had 4 so I used the other bigger washers not realizing that I needed those for the wheels. You want to get your mind blown? Now that I look back at the video, some of these washers come stuck together so even though they look like 1 washer they are really two. Look carefully at the video and you will see a line in between them. Man this really bummed me out. I appologize. Now we will have a bunch of people building it wrong, lol. I guess its not such a big deal. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it.

    @@grillingwithpitarqui2457 The washers had me stumped for a while also - only having half the washers the manual said: 16x M6 top shelf, 8x M8 bottom shelf and 8x M12 wheels - luckily when I picked ‘one’ up it came apart, so assumed they were just in pairs (most wouldn’t budge and were firmly stuck together). I can see this catching out more people in the future if KJ have decided to bond these washers together and don’t add a revision to the manual or at least a side note to say this. Thanks again for the video, it definitely helped me build my Classic 3 that arrived yesterday! Now I just need to decide what my first cook will be!

    Thanks for a very informative video. Just unboxing my new grill and getting ready to assemble the cart. In the owner's manual it shows that there should be #16 of the M6 locking nuts, but I only received #8. The manual demonstrates two of the locking nuts on each bolt. I notice that in your build you only have #8. Any issues with only using one for each bolt??

    Hello Jean, you are the second person that writes to me about this. You are absolutely correct about this. You really pay attention to detail. That's great. When I received my Kamado Grill I had some missing parts and I put it together in the best way possible. That is the only part I wish I could edit on my video, other than that everything is very straight forward and100 percent correct. If you have all the parts please follow the manual. That part is not anything to worry about, ive been constantly moving my grill around with no problem. As long as you are securing it with the bolts you are good. The grill is very sturdy. Thank you so much for commenting. I hope that your build (other than this part) was not confusing. Good luck, Cheers and keep on grilling!

    Hello Brady, the way three teenage boys eat, it’s like having a house of 5 adults. 😀 I got the classic three because where I live the space is kind of limited. It works perfectly for us but we are just two adults and a five year old. If you have the room, and the money, I would just go for the Big joe. The classic 3 looks big on the outside but only gives you 18 inches of diameter to cook. That’s not big at all. Something else to take into consideration is that if you ever plan on two zone cooking with your joe, you will be cutting your cooking real estate in half. I know that once we start having people over again I am going to regret not having the big joe. There was a guy in a video that made me laugh, he said, listen: if you get the classic 3 you are going to wish you got the big joe. If you get the big joe you are going to wish you got the classic 3 because it’s too big. I appreciate your comment, let me know what you decide to do.

    Hello Brady, when I was considering buying a new ceramic grill it was between the KamadoJoe and Primo. Both very good top of the line ceramic grills. I really liked the Primo brand because they have the patented oval shaped grill which gives you a wide surface for grilling. It seemed more confortable to cook on. I liked that it came in black (but that has nothing to do with the quality of the product, just color preference). I also liked the fact that it is an American made product, love the story about how the owner built his business. I ended up going with the Kamado mainly for two reasons, besides all the good reviews and comparisons with other ceramic grills. 1- The heavy duty well-built hinge that in my opinion is better than anything out there. Some may say "this is not so important", but if you tried lifting the lids on other ceramic grills vs. the KamadoJoe you will definitely see that there is no comparison 2- The sloRoller Hyperbolic Smoke Chamber for slow cooking and smoking that only Kamado offers

    How is the three tier different from the two tier? This video doesn’t seem to show any difference at all

  • @grillingwithpitarqui2457

    @grillingwithpitarqui2457

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Shaun, great question, the three tier just gives you a little more flexibility than the two tier since you have that third floor level. You have more options for combinations. If you put the two tier and three tier racks next to each other the three tier will be taller. The classic 3 is deeper than the classic 2 so when all the parts are put together they may seem the same because they grates end up flat on top but the 3 tier goes in deeper on the classic 3. They also made that three tier for the slow roller on the KJC3 because the slow roller pops inside the three tier taking up space where you can only really use the two top tiers at that point. I hope this answered your question. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for commenting.
