As a Catholic, I appreciate this very much. The Jesus prayer is a great gift coming from the east.

He was referring to the Philokalia Vol.4 compiled by St Nikodimos and St Makarios. The book is translated from Greek into English.

It's very easy with modern professional audio software such as Adobe Audition to take out the hum in these clips. I have done it but I don't know if the material is copyrigted so I will not upload it unless I get that information.

In your opinion, would you say there is a link between Corithian tounges as described by St. Paul in 1 Cor. 14, the prayer of the Spirit/spirit in the heart in Ro.8:26-27, the continual prayer which is encouraged in Eph. 6 and the Jesus prayer/Noetic prayer? What would you think about the charism of tounges, which is heavily prevalent in protestant circles? I am myself protestant (grew up lutheran and pentecostal) but am very interested in Orthodoxy. From my own experience of both tounges and the Jesus prayer, so far both seem to have much in common, even though speaking in tounges seem to originate from the spirit rather than the soul meaning that it is possible to both pray in tounges in the spirit and pray the Jesus prayer with the mind/soul or even talking simultaneously. I haven't really got a proper understanding of the meaning of noetic prayer though. Is it supposed to be a continual prayer of the heart/spirit without ceasing? Then it must originate from the spirit rather than the mind/soul, right? But is it with or without umderstandable words? The charism of tounges (Corithian) are obviously with words that are not umderstandable, in order not bother the mind all the time. Would you say they are the same or different charisms, and what is the Orthodox position? It also seems like your description of active baptismal grace is very similar to the protestant notion of baptism in the Holy Spirit. Blessings!

The Biblical gift of tongues is speaking another language, like if I were to suddenly start speaking fluent Swahili or Chinese. The charismatic "gift of tongues" is just babbling nonsense and comes not from the Holy Spirit but from the individuals own vain imaginations, working themselves up into a trance like state or is in certain cases demonic in origin.

There is nothing in scripture that prohibits the self-administration of communion. Jesus says “do this in remembrance of me” which to me implies self-administration. So if you want communion every day, it is not careless or casual to give it to yourself, as far as I can see. We need the community of fellow Christians and the guidance of the priestly class, but our own observances are valid, I trust.

No sorry you cannot administer Holy Communion to yourself only an ordained priest may do this! I would also advise you to speak to your spiritual father about this
