Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review - Rebel Moon But Not Crap

Фильм және анимация

Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review - Kalki 2898 AD is a new epic sci-fi Indian film. It takes some clear inspiration from Star Wars and Mad Max while infusing its own culture and lore into the story. This has a big scale and a great cast of characters. I give you my spoiler-free thoughts on the film and why it might be worth checking out!

But unlike rebel moon this movie's plot is connected to actual Mahabharata (a 200 thousand verse poem in Hinduism). So it's far more exciting for those that can understand the references. So do yourselves a favor and watch a 5-10 minute videos of what Mahabharat is before watching this movie.

But for this movie you can just research about asvathama who was warrior in Mahabharata but he was in bad side and at the end of war he kill all five son of pandavs and attack ( daughter in law of arjun) uttra womb. For this krishna give him cruse that he will live till the end of this world in pain and with regrets only when kalki ( tenth avtar of Vishnu) will born and kill demon kali and start new yug satyug his cruse will also gone with this. Not to offend people from US and other countries. Star wars, Lord of the rings Trilogy, Dune are not the original scripts or stories. These movies are based off of books written by people who read other religious scriptures. Dune for instance there's no way anyone can deny saying that it's not based on Islam. Likewise star wars and LOTR is based off of Indian mythology. It's really interesting to know that people out there doesn't seem interested to even look at what other religious scriptures say or talk about and just assuming what they see or hear is the never ever unheard and original stories

He is regereed to as the 10 th incarnation of Vishnu, and is prophesied to born in by the end of Kalyug, by the time darkness and negativity will take over the World. 7 Saptarishis or Great Sages will wait for his arrival including Ashwasthhama, the role played here in the movie by Amitabh Bachchan. He is actually a character from Mahabharata and he was cursed by Krishna (8th Avatar of Vishnu) to remain immortal and protect the mother of Kalki in Kalyug (which he is seen doing in the movie).

U will enjoy the movie more after learning about the history and mythology of it. It's amazing. For example. The child in the womb who got hit by brahmastra which was activated by ashwathama, obviously the child died but Krishna saved him after cursing ashwathama then the child grow up and became a well known and good king called King parikshit. He was the one who first fought Kali the main villain of this movie he nearly killed him but he begged for his life and he told the king (grandson of Arjuna , the good guy in the past scene with blue lighting bow) Kali told the king about himself and about the prophecy and yuga system. The king spared his life. He gave him a place to live where all sins are there and he gave him gold as a medium to spread his effect. The king warned his people to stay away from sins. That's why u see complex, raiders in the movie with yellow golden emblem engraved with demonic Kali figure.

Do not miss it at any cost. 💯💯💯 I hope Kalki surpasses every Indian movie including RRR. Absolutely mindblowing except some unnecessary cringe acting, cringe dialogues, cringe comedy, cringe song and typical masala in the first half. Kamal Haasan part is simply orgasmic. The way they have imagined landscapes, environments, weapons, vehicles, powers, Mahabharata scenes is truly exceptional. Just like the christians belief in the return of Jesus christ at the end times, Hindus also has a similar one. For Hindus its the return of Lord Vishnus tenth and final avatar " Kalki ". This movie is directly based on that story. The baby inside Deepika is Kalki, the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He will be born to restore order to the dying world. When he accomplishes his task the final cycle which is Kaliyug will be ended and the cycle continues with the starting of Satyayug. So in a way this is a super hero movie with ancient Indian epics element in them. Thats why you see many over the top things.

To truly enjoy this movie one should be aware of characters of Mahabharata, especially what happened in war of Kurukshetra, without this background it is just a flashy movie, the history is what makes this movie enjoyable and gives goosebumps most of the time. You might have noticed Indians might have rejoiced the history part of the movie more than the modern world. It’s history not mythology. The director can’t change the history, but he took liberty in building a future which again is based on book Kalki-puraan that was written thousands of years ago predicting how and when this current world ends.

The role played by Prabhaa (the main star actor in the film) is of Bhairava (the past life Karna). Karna was a character of Mahabharata. He was the eldest son of the Pandavas (the side which Krishna, the 8th Avatar of Vishnu took during the Kurukshetra war). He was the son of the Sun God Agni but he was separated from the rest of his brothers at the time of his birth as a result he was in the clan of Kauravas (the other sect whi fought in the war). He was referring to as one of the strongest warrior in the entire mankind and was impossible for anyone to defeat him in direct war. So Krishna advised Arjuna (Karna's Brother in the Pandava side) to shoot an arrow towards him when he would be busy pulling out the wheel of his chariot from the mud.

2:53 These things you mention are only done in a particular genre of indian cinema which is the "mass masala" films. There are other kinds of indian movies as well. Much more grounded, realistic and subtle. Sadly only over the top films make it to america and people think this is all there is to Indian cinema. These slow motion entrances of lead characters are done because these movies do big collection in small towns, villages and single screen theatres where the crowd is rowdy and they go absolutely nuts when their favourite actor comes on screen. Its almost like how fans of wwe expect to see cool entrances of the wrestlers. But its not all there is to Indian cinema. Its quite vast, has multiple genres just like in hollywood and also all Indian movies don't have song and dance sequences.

I would request all the foreigners here who has watched or will watch this movie, because as per predictions this movie might be as popular or even more than RRR. So, I would say imvest a little time to know about Mahabharata, India's greatest epic written 3000 years back. If you get to know the concept and the characters I would guarantee you would like this movie 100x times more because this is nothing but a squel of Mahabharata which is yet to happen in the future. Also to mention, just know a bit about the Indian God Vishnu, the protector and creator of the World. How his 8th Avatar Krishna is shown in the movie and is related to Mahabharata and Kalki (upon whom the name of the movie is taken) the 10th Avatar who is yet to born in the movie (most probably will born in the next part).

somehow the worst part was Bhairava's character. They should have balanced out the chatty dialogue and the playfulness.. Many place is felt extremely cringy. Coming to set design, and vfx, the graph went high in many places and low in some. But still they deserve to be appreciated. The fights in first half was downright bad, the weight of characters were so silly at places. they should have cut out disha patani's character, that was solely for the horny telugu audience. its towards the end that the movie really gets going.

Indians are proud of culture and Religion and when someone makes a movie that is based on their belief they will like it. Mahabharat is such a written literature that you can create a 10 season show at a scale like of GOT, and if done perfectly it can be biggest hit of all time.
