    Yes thank you. I have been impressed from what I have read about Kali Audio, alot of good stuff. Hope to own some Kali Audio eqpt. soon here in the near future. They have an interesting view of audio, particularly in the studio providing eqpt. affordable enough for the average person/musician to use at home.

    Thanks for your comments. I have worked in various studios throughout Toronto over the years and had the pleasure to mix with some of the best monitors in the industry. With my studio build now in Europe I had to make a decision on what to aquire as my main pair of monitors. A friend of mine back in Toronto recommended that I would try the Kali Audio IN-8s as he has been using them with great success and boy was it ever a good recommendation. I have only good things to say about my Kali IN-8s. The team at Kali Audio think outside of the box...well thought out, proven designs and as you mentioned the price is very much reasonable. I believe that my IN-8s could easily be priced higher and engineers wouldn't complain 😏 Anyhow...the WS 6.2 sub is an excellent unit. It works well with my IN-8s and also my IK Loud Micro monitors. Full review video and my decision on the Kali sub coming soon. Stay tuned and thanks for your support! @kaliaudio

    Thanks a lot for the review, nd the time nd effort u put into this vid. Ur setup looks sick aswell. It’s good to know now that the WS 6.2 can perform as well as the specs show. I’m sure the bass isn’t coloured either, since the WS 12 is pretty flat aswell. I’m gonna order 1 in a few weeks aswell. Is that ur own tune that u made @10:00? Really appreciate your thanks and the compliments on my studio :) It has been quite a bit of work for the past 6 months but has all come together exactly how I saw it in my mind since when it was just an idea. Yes...the WS 6.2 has definitely proved it's hype and can certainly be a perfect sub for a small studio. Bass wasn't very coloured. Acoustic treatment is important in your space however the overall sense of the sub when correctly set up was that it translated very well and more importantly didn't drown out my mains. With correct positioning it SHOULD sound like it is coming from your mains and not from a sub sitting on your floor. Good luck with your purchase and hope you don't have to wait to long. You will be very happy with your decision. Fantastic sub. I will post a full review on it next week...where I will express my final thoughts (pros/cons). As for the track, ya I share your reminiscent feeling on the track. Know it isn't my production, I pulled this from Epidemic Sound share.epidemicsound.com/jooqt6 Thanks for your comments. @@nicholasmatys yh I was the 1st like on the this vid lol nd I subbed yesterday 👍. I was jus doin sum extra research before I commented, cuz I was still contemplating on choosing the WS 12 for the lower bass extension, as I need as much as I can get. The WS 12 is too big for my room tho cuz my seating position will end up being in the middle of my bedroom if I got that 😅, cuz I need to use the same measurement distance from my monitors to my seating position, nd the subwoofer will then put my seating position further back nd I’ll hav to bring my monitors forward, to get all 3 in phase alignment . I’m deffo goin for the 6.2 now. If only it had gain adjustments, like the Kali monitors nd WS 12 does, so it can be EQ’d for room modes. But I’ll be using sonarworks reference 4 for setting it up nd calibrating it for the dBSPL values anyway It’ll be sick if Kali cud send u their new SM 5 C to test nd do a review on Keep up the good work. This vid was really helpful to me

    Yes, it is quite impressive in person. A microphone can only capture so much detail however it goes without saying that sitting in the studio and experiencing it is allows you to feel it. Viewers with a good set of headphones who play this video can get an idea of how it sounds in a studio when they close their eyes and listen. It was a joy to test. It is tight, pronounced and smooth indeed. I took the WS-6.2 to my office and paired it with my iLoud Multimedia Micro monitors and find it to be a great pairing. I know, not a typical setup however the Fluid Audio FC10S can handle higher output in comparison to the Kali WS-6.2 and works very well with my Kali IN-8s. The Kali bottoms out (distorts) at higher output levels specifically with a hard techno/hip hop type of bass kick and thump. It's either the 6.5 driver that cannot handle it or the pressure that's built up inside the enclosure that leads to this. With the FC10S I cannot get below 30Hz...it becomes audible at around 28/29Hz. The Kali is impressive at 25Hz. Full review on the Kali will be posted next week. Need free time in the editing room before releasing the video. Appreciate your comment and support. N

    I've just had a small mixing room built in my garden, approx 4.5 x 3.0m. I already owned a pair Kali IN-5's so I have just added a WS 6.2, the room is fully treated and it sounds incredible. The bass now is fuller, deeper and due to the vastly improved sound image it's also much tighter. When you flick the bypass switch on and off the difference is huge especially in the sound staging. With the sub out the sound is good and sounds like it's coming straight from the IN-5's but when you switch the sub back in the sound image appears to spread well outside the speakers and become more 3D. I could not be more pleased with the Kali sub. 😎

    I was trying to decide between the FC10S and the Presonus Temblor T10s. This comparison really helped me lean away from the FC10S. I leaned away from the Kali because of features, but I like the smaller footprint and that low end response really proves it can do what marketing says. The FC10S claims 20hz in some cases and its definitely not there. I've been learning about subs from shopping and this testing helps a ton with determining what I'm going to care about. Thank you!

    @dreforian I must apologize for the late response. As much as I tried to "like" or "appreciate " the "temblor"...my gosh the "FC10s" is the way to go. I got pure mud from the Presonus. Sucks because I really thought the Presonus would be it. Way more control on the FC10S and the sound is more detailed. The KALI is a great backup. Works well as a second sub for smaller space.

    Great review! The WS 6.2 wipes the floor with the FC10S without a doubt. Well worth the extra $100 for the Kali Audio. I've been running a pair of LP-6 v2's since last Christmas & love them, but this will definetly be my next purchase for my studio. I'm also thinking of picking up a pair of IN-5's to give myself some options when mixing. What do you think? Worth it to get some IN-5's along with my near future LP-6 & WS-6.2 combo?

  • @nicholasmatys

    @nicholasmatys

    11 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the comment. The microphones do capture 100% but after reviewing the test recordings it reveals a lot. It certainly fills in so much more bottom. Personally I didn't expect the Kali to go that low and equally with so much authority. After 60Hz it starts to lose it's muscles but our monitors fill that in. I have mixed with LP-6s before which are fantastic studio monitors. For my new studio that I am building here I wanted my main pair of monitors to be 3 ways and the Kali IN series is something really wonderful. I get the whole palette of frequencies that I need from my IN-8's. So yes, the IN-5s would be an amazing addition to your studio. Quite honestly they will end up being your main monitors and the LP-6s could be added used for an immersive experience. It depends what kind of work you are doing.

    Hi. You mention above that it loses muscle above 60hz and that monitors fill it in but the xover is 80hz. Have you used the internal xover on the Kali or something external? You shouldn’t be hearing anything below 80 from your monitors? Really awesome test by the way! I’m this close to buying one but the fixed x-over of 80hz makes me hesitate. Don’t really wanna have to get an extra x-over. Hence my question. Thanks for the great effort put into this vid! 👍🏻

    Yes you're right...the low end extension is impressive. Not surprising for the enclosure design but impressive that Kali was keen enough to produce this. It works well with the IN-8s. I paired it with a different set of speakers even though in my review it is evident that my mains in the studio for the sound tests are Kali IN-8s. I'm finalizing my full review on the WS-6.2 but don't hesitate for a moment if you're looking to add this to "work" with your IN-8s or any studio monitor that falls into the same category of speakers. Admittedly the IN-8s are beyond their category, nothing but praise for the price...but there is a mod that needs to be made to make them superior. Use your knuckles and knock on the enclosure...an audiophile will know. Details coming soon...and the WS-6.2 found a perfect home. Video coming shortly... Thanks for your support and subscribe! Ciao

    Kali Sub vs KRK Sub ? I’m stuck between better deeper bass for my HS8

  • @nicholasmatys

    @nicholasmatys

    9 ай бұрын

    Hey...thanks for your support and commenting. With no bias here the Kali audio sub. Which KRK? The 8" or the 10" version? Either way...I tested 5 subs in my new studio before deciding on the Fluid Audio FC10S. It sounded the best out of all that I tested. (PreSonos Temblor T10, KRK S10.4, JBL LSR310S 10", Adam Audio Sub8). This was in March/April. The Kali wasn't available yet and was on the waiting list. I can tell yuou that in comparison to the KRK which to me sounded to overwhelming and muddy. It didn't have the sonic accuracy I was looking for. It wasn't tight, it didn't give me an experience that I am normally accustomed to. The Fluid Audio for me just sounded right...it is great for critical listening. However the Kali is a different beast all together. I still use the Fluid Audio in my studio as it fills my space better (450sq.ft) however the Kali is in my office paired with IK Multimedia monitors and absolutely love it. You have to be aware that you cannot crank the volume levels very high with the Kali as it bottoms out (distorts). The KRK you can give it more but if you producing and mastering then the Kali will not be an issue. If you're a bass head and want to use it for loud listening or parties then the Kali is not for you and the KRK 10" can do it...it just won't sound as good as other options. So to answer your question...the Kali is a great solution for a small studio space. Thanks again for you support and comment. More video/reviews to come very soon! Ciao N

  • @nicholasmatys

    @nicholasmatys

    10 ай бұрын

    Hey...30m2 you say, Well that's a tough one as I can provide you with advice regarding the Mackie only based on specifications but...I have extensive experience with sealed subwoofer enclosures and can certainly provide you with valuable info about what to expect from a sealed enclosure, specifically with only 200 class D "watts". I should add that I have had the pleasure to work in many studios in Toronto over the past 2 decades and subs that I have worked with include Dyn Audio, Neumann and Adam. Finally, when building my new studio here in Europe I had 4 different subs that I ordered 6 months ago and tested before I decided on keeping the Fluid Audio FC10S. Those subs are the Presonus Temblor 10, KRK 10S2, Adam Audio Sub 8 and the Fluid. I have a 45m2 studio space (aprox. 450 sq.ft). I will have a full review on the WS-6.2 from Kali and it will include my full opinion and experience with the Fluid Audio along with some comments about the above mentioned that I tested as well. This is why I chose the Fluid Audio. 1) connectivity 2) variable sweeped phase 0 - 180 vs. an A/B switch 3) excellent crossover 4) super excellent gain control 5) foot switch (WHICH CAME INCLUDED!!!!) The fluid audio for me, out of the ones that I have tested sounded the cleanest, had no real lower frequency issues where the 28-45 hz would sound a bit muddy. It sounds superb overall in the entire frequency range (slight dip at 80hz). It can go very loud if you want it to but when setup just right it blends perfectly with my main monitors (Kali IN-8)...I mean just perfect...as if the sub wasn't there. The others just sounded too boomy and uncontrolled. Finally the 45 degree down firing port I think is quite brilliant in terms of design. I'm looking forward to perhaps a version 2 of the same sub but with a more properly tuned enclosure where the sub can produce frequencies closer to 20Hz as it is noted on the tech specs. Now...sealed enclosures. They are my TOP pick for audiophile sound. Not a TOP pick when trying to achieve very low frequencies as the sub will have a very hard time to produce 20Hz in a sealed enclosure. Unless!...you have a very long excursion subwoofer along with a high current amplifier then a sealed enclosure will sound very serious and produce exceptional lows. Reason why we port an enclosure along with a proper internal baffle system which some look like mazes when dissected is to create enough pressure to produce frequencies that are lower the the speaker (woofer) is rated for. Most subwoofers are rated to frequencies as low as 25 to 35Hz but it is in the enclosure design that can produce lower frequencies along with a good baffle design plus pressure release port. A good example would be the BOSE series of speakers...the small ones that have very small drivers that can somehow produce very low frequencies where otherwise the speaker on its own could not achieve that without their enclosure designs. Now for the Mackie. It is a 200 watt Class D 10 inch sub in a sealed enclosure that is rated to hit as low as 40Hz. Fluid Audio goes as low as 28Hz. The Mackie should sound quite good overall as I am getting the impression that price is part of your decision making process. The Mackie comes with and interesting gain/volume controller. Personally I think once you dial in the precise output that you are looking for to match your studio monitors then I would much rather have a footswitch to turn the sub on or off vs a volume controller. The phase is an A/B switch but it does have a frequency crossover which is nice. The connectivity is ok, the Fluid Audio for me has the most connection options out of all in the price category. Mackie has Bluetooth which certainly is a selling feature however I would much rather purchase a high end BT received and plug that into my Fluid Audio via the RCA if BT would be something that is required. For me, my music is on my computer. BT would see very little use. As for your space, 30m2 is not huge, you can setup the Fluid Audio to sound great in your space. I think what makes the FC10S sound clean, tight and not so colored is the fact that it uses a paper cone with rubber surround as opposed to plastic coated or poly coated cones. They tend to weigh down the sub and it loses its fidelity. This is why I went with the FC10S from Fluid. It just sounded very good. I didn't listen to the Mackie but since your comment I have watched some KZread samples...it certainly is a smaller enclosure...so if that is your concern the Mackie would be a good choice as the FC10S is larger. If you could save up a little...I would consider the Kali WS-6.2 even though (spoiler) I preferred my FC10S in my studio. I will explain in my upcoming full review video. However, the Kali ended up in my office...I matched it with my iLoud Multimedia Micro monitors. I figured that it would be nice to have the second sub just in case and having it in my office sound pretty good after hours :) Don't forget the Kali can hit seriously low frequencies and has a very small footprint. The only down side is that you CANNOT push them to hard as it starts to distort. It cannot handle aggressive low end punchy base at higher volumes (90 - 100db). The FC10S had zero issues with it. Also with the FC10S I forgot to mention, it has a flat/punchy switch. Flat for more reference type of listening, punchy for edm, pop and hip hop which raises the eq levels between 60-100hz giving you a more lively base experience. So there you have it. The Mackie looks good...I cannot say it sounds bad as I heard the tests online. You have my opinions and I shared my experiences. Hope this helps with your subwoofer purchase journey :) Thanks for your support...subscribe. I have Many videos that will be posted soon including my studio tour. Till then... @nicholasmatys @fluidaudio @kaliaudio

    @eojizzz Yes you can. Either via a DAC/AMP with a Bluetooth connection. I have a Topping DX3 Pro+ in the studio with BT and the quality is very good. Kali Audio in fact actually has a BT option as well however I would seriously recommend the Topping with BT option. However l, if your phone has a headphone (3.5mm) jack then there can be a direct connection to your Audio interface that way. But is it "Audio interface" specific or simple playing music from your mobile phone on the monitors and sub?

    KALI WS 6.2 vs SVS Micro 3000 ?

  • @nicholasmatys

    9 ай бұрын

    Oh my... SVS Subs are in a completely different class. Awesome subs...quite well known for that. I actually know the 3000...a friend of mine has one as part of his home theatre setup which he bought in 2021. I mean it's a dual 8 inch opposing driver design much like the WS-6.2 but we are talking about two different applications here. Let me start off by saying I am a big fan of sealed sub enclosures when paired with the right driver(s). Nothing beats it if you are an audiophile and want that natural sound and quality. Before I go on...what is your current setup? P.S. Thx for your support and comments

    @user-cb3rq1zy3k The Concept 20s are really nice. They are based on the 2020i speakers that received some rave reviews. Adding to that point, it's a small world because I own a pair of 2020i speakers which are in my office in Toronto since 2016 and are quite wonderful to listen to after 5:00pm :) At home in Toronto I have a pair of QUAD AUDIO 22L speakers driven by a Bryston 4B and a bunch of other stuff (preamp, cd player, vinyl player etc.) and they are sonic bliss for me. Awesome British sound. So now you have peaked my curiosity...you have a great pair of speakers (I hope you got the Q Acoustic stands for them), a really great SVS sub which gives me the impression you're an audiophile like me. So, you sit in front of this great setup at the proper distance, and you enjoy your moments of music and stereo bliss. Why the question regarding the Kali WS-6.2? Your setup is great. The Kali is very impressive, don't get me wrong but if you're interested in higher output volume and cranking it from time to time the Kali will bottom out. It doesn't handle higher volume levels well. It could not handle hard punchy deep techno bass at 90-100db and up...the speakers started to show their weakness. That would be the case for anything that would be heavy hitting on the low end. However...in the studio at proper critical listening levels, it is a gem, especially for small spaces. Logic alone will tell you that a dual 8-inch driver sub enclosure vs. a dual 6.5 inch driver enclosure cannot compare. Especially when you're driving the SVS at 800watts RMS and in a sealed enclosure which I am an absolute fan of when it comes to audio fidelity. A sealed sub is more musically accurate...instruments sound wonderful like organs, bass, drums, etc. What makes the Kali WS-6.2 so attractive is that finally, someone has produced a product that not only serves as an amazing critical listening tool when trying to cover 25Hz-80Hz but also studios that are small can accommodate a subwoofer like this without sounding too big (physically and sonically). Meaning it sonically integrates well with a good pair of monitors and doesn't take over but rather works together. To sum it up...It is a perfect match with a good pair of studio monitors and small studio spaces. Are you thinking about replacing your SVS?

    @user-cb3rq1zy3k Cool...well you have at least an idea...my impression/opinion. The WS-6.2 is a fantastic sub for small studios and for some reference home theatre setups in smaller spaces. There are a lot of options out there but this one trumps most of them due to its size/versatility. Your setup is cool, I'm sure it sounds amazing! Cheers...appreciate your comments :) N

    @144k_IMMORTALS I will put it quite simple. The IN-8 or even in your case the IN-5s. Improved Frequency Range! Three-way monitors typically allows for better separation of low, mid, and high frequencies, resulting in more accurate sound reproduction. Sound quality is subjective however in my experience aside from a final check from a NS10 or a mixcube these IN series monitors are just great! Amazing for critical listening. 10x10 room? My opinion the IN-5 with the 6.2 you will be smiling from ear-to-ear. IN-8s if you foresee moving into a larger space in the future. P.S as for the why IN-5 over the IN-8...the sound pressure that is generated is enough to rattle my doors to my 450sq.ft studio. A 10x10 room the 5s will sing beautifully and the 3Hz difference the sub will take care of rest.
