Recorded: April 24th 2024 | In this weeks episode, the guys are back to recap the NFL Draft and who were the big winners and the massive losers coming out of it all. The guys have some wild takes coming out of it on who won and lost. Taylor then gets into his viral moment with his daughter that happened at the Preds game. Like father like daughter.
Following the intro the guys finish up their spring tour by sitting down with new Alabama head football coach, Kalen DeBoer. He obviously has taken over for maybe the greatest coach of all time in Nick Saban and has massive shoes to fill. Will and Taylor dive into what the process was like with interviewing and getting the job. DeBoer said he essentially had 24 hours to make a decision and that was coming off losing the national championship.
DeBoer then gets into what to expect from the Tide this season. He is trying to implement his own culture while trying to keep the old traditions that have made Bama, Bama. He gets into his first message that he gave the team and how he met with each of the leaders to talk about what they wanted to see this year. Overall, after listening to this conversation, it's easy to see that the tradition of Alabama football is in good hands. Enjoy fellas.

The transition hurts a lot. Do you know how terrible Arizona was when Fisch got there? They were 10-3 and only had 1 loss in regulation. Miraculous turnaround and Fisch has coached under Carroll, Belichick, McVay, Harbaugh.

He did. And he got damn close to it. But with all true competitors, they always want to reach the next level, if for no other reason, simply to prove that they can. What sounds harder. Continuing to be successful where you are or, going to the one place that is unquestionable in its position as the top of the mountain & taking over the program following the greatest to ever do that job and proving you are capable of being successful at that level? It does come with plenty of its own benefits, such as having Alabamas recruiting base instead of Washington’s. But it has twice as many draw backs. Such as if he had stayed at UW and they had a fairly substantial fall off from this last season, just due to the annual roster over turn. That still likely doesn’t put very much pressure on him, because of the success he has already had the previous two years. That pressure to be great exists at Alabama from the day you set foot on campus and will continue to be there, long after you’ve gone. A fall off at UW could be seen as reasonable, going from 1 loss, to 5 the next season. At Alabama, a significant fall off is a 2 or 3 loss season. It takes a highly motivated and competitive individual to even consider taking that job.
