She was pestering him to marry her……What she did to Akhilan, her cousin did to her. When a woman says ‘no’, men should respect it. But the same applies vice versa. When a man says ‘No’ women should accept it.

With her childish attitude, she just fell in love with a nice man and didn't know how to handle it. There are many ways of handling things, he could have discussed with the family and sort it out slowly until she comes out of it and understand things, instead he got her raped and got her married to that same person. You cannot justify by getting a woman raped. The rapist should be in jail, not marrying her. In the end, she didn't want to bother her mama anymore and begged him to be left alone. What happened to her was cruelty, poor soul.

It was that psychiatrist who suggested Akhilan to ask her cousin to stalk her. Kanmani might have been more street smart than her sister, because she studied in Bangalore. So she was world wise. But Anbarasi was soft, innocent and sensitive. She was too innocent to understand how people could betray her. Even though Akhilan's approach might have been a bit harsh, he did it to protect his wife, as he feared that Kanmani might harm her. Also, since Kanmani was more educated and intelligent, she could have controlled her desires rather than behaving like a spoilt kid. It is not wrong to get a crush on a married man. Because crush and attraction cannot be stopped. But you can control it. Even if Kanmani got a crush on Akhilan, she should have understood the situation that he was married, so she should have just moved away rather than disturbing Akhilan's peace of mind. She could have been more matured.

@@tejaswini609 simple bro, you cant get women raped whether its doctors advise, grandfather's advise, mother's advise or whatever mofo's advise. Its against the law period. Eve teasing exists in India right? so rape is a bigger crime. Falling in love is not against the law. Furthermore she did not do anything against the law, she was morally behaving like a child and that also with fear of the family not knowing it because of dignity, she didn't reveal a word about anything till the end about her feelings towards akilan. Not like she was walking around naked attempting criminal acts. Again she was just a kid. Its normal. The movie depicted the stupidity of Indian mentality of getting girls married to the guy who raped her. Women are not obligated to marry a man even if they have slept willingly at some point with their partner. What more if its a rape. The whole family should be in jail for being an accomplice to the rapist, but society and law did not do anything here.

it happens a lot. it happened in my family. we had an adopted girl in our family. my mother raised her from 6 months old. she had an affair with my real sister's husband. my real sister committed suicide when she caught them red handed. it broke our family. my mother fell sick after that and never recovered.
