Kala Elite STMR-ST Super Tenor XL Ukulele |

Hi guys! In today's Ukulele review I'm showing you the BRAND NEW AND INCREDIBE @kalabrandmusic Elite STMR-ST Solid Spruce Top Myrtle Super Tenor XL Ukulele!
I am super excited to have been hand selected as a Kala Elite dealer. Kala typically sells the Kala Elites only on their website so it's an honor to have them available for you at store.ukelikethepros.com.
Kala Elites are 100% handmade in the Kala Elite factory in Petaluma, California, USA and made with only the finest woods, materials and craftsmanship. The XL (or super tenor) has a 19 Inch Scale Length and a wider lower bout compared to a regular tenor ukulele (17 inch scale length).
You may think you know Kala but you will be blown away by the Kala Elite line. As the name implies these XL super tenors have a HUGE sound mixed with the longer neck to give you plenty of room for your hands.

So while you're talking super tenors, I've searching for a case for mine (Islander AST4). I keep looking at baritone cases (to fit the lower bout) but I can never find measurements pertaining to the the top of the neck rest inside the cases to ensure my head stock actually clears that portion of the case when the lower bout fits snuggly all the way at the bottom. Would most baritone cases leave enough room for this? I'd really prefer a poly case, but a hard case would work as well. I know Kala makes (or at least used to make) a poly (the UC-B Baritone) but really have trouble finding these specific details.

What are the best string sets for the Super Tenors (low G)

Howdy Terry, I wonder if "unbelievable" and "I can't believe" mean that none of the Hawaiian 19" supertenors in roughly this price range have this much resonance/vibration/sustain.

The Kanile’a Super Tenor 19” are very nice instruments as well. They are more expensive than the Kala Elites. I have reviews on the Kanile’a super tenors as well here on my channel

Sorry for the bother, Terry. I have one issue with this. The Kala Worth Brown strings rattle with normal strength strumming (and the rattle is loud because the uke is really loud). Would you recommend another brand and specific string set? (On my Breedlove, Pepe Romero Low G Fluorocarbon set is much less loud, feels nylon-like, and does not produce audible rattle. However, I dread that set might rob this Kala Elite of its volume and clarity that come with the Browns.) Any suggestions highly appreciated! Happy New Year from Vancouver! Cheers!

I find the worth browns nice for fingerpicking but not my favorite for strumming. I like the Pepe Romero strings, they provide more tension. I don’t always think the smooth round string of the Pepe Romero low G sound good all ukes. The PH D are nice strings but don’t have a wound low g, only unwound. Give the oasis a try, they have both wound and unwound low g and also a warm and bright set. The bright set has a little higher tension

@@Ukelikethepros Thanks a million, Terry! I will see which ones are available here in Vancouver. (The smooth Low G of Romero is great for sliding up and down, compared to the Kala Elite's, which I read is sourced from La Bella).

I also have a comparison video of this super tenor XL with my previous tenor myrtle (Breedlove, solid top/laminate back) on my channel. That was the loudest and warmest uke I had heard before this. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nHyGl5iqlrbQiNI.html&ab_channel=LongTallJay

Is it me, or do "most" ukuleles sound about the same? I bought an affordable Kemise Tenor Uke on Amazon, and have brought it into tons of music stores to compare how it sounds compared to "other", more expensive, offerings. Well, the difference is minimal, and often the Kemise blows away other ukuleles costing much more. And I ask myself, "Am I really going to pay hundreds more for something that doesn't sound much better? Nope. Please convince me otherwise, if I'm wrong. I just don't see what all the hype is in regards to certain offerings, when the tonal dynamic is not much different.

This reviewer sucks. I'm at 6:30 and still don't know if this uke is worth it. Get to the point!
