Kakuni! Braised Pork Belly Recipe with Pressure Cooker

Kakuni is Japanese braised pork belly. It can be made easily with a pressure cooker. In this recipe, I’ll share a two step braise method, once with aromatics and then with a sweet and salty sauce. It’s best eaten on top of a bowl of rice with a hard-boiled egg and some sauteed greens.

Thanks for watching! Check out the ingredients list in the description. If you are making this without a pressure cooker, I would recommend tripling (at least) the braising times. Let me if you give it a try!

Sure! If it’s a matter of availability then I would recommend another cooking wine like sherry, however if it’s non-alcoholic option you are looking for I would add an extra pinch of salt or white dashi if it’s available. Hope that helps!
