That's a fact, but sadly this video widely misrepresented the game series as "diverse" when the game has nothing to do with diversity. And "diversity of thought" doesn't count because that's just a mental gymnastics way of saying "from different scopes or viewpoints" which has nothing to do with diversity.

Umah didn't intend to turn Kain over to the Sarafan, she stole the nexus stone from him so she could defeat the Sarafan Lord alone, because she didn't trust him. He killed her for her betrayel.

I don’t know WHY you guys decided to start a video for Legacy of Kain, but I love you for it. This game is a massive chunk of my childhood going into my teenage years and held onto fondly in my adulthood, still holding intense hope for a continuation of the story.

That voice actor for Kain is one of the greatest voice actors in gaming I’ve heard. Guy that does Max Payne is up there too

@tiagobaenre5973 - ... they're great on there! Tony Jay plays a hired, British hitman in 2 or 3 episodes and Templeman plays an evil Kryptonian on a multi-part storyline. Their voices are unmistakable 👍

Okay now you got my interest. This series is the very 'PEAK' of story telling and 'EXCELLENT' voice acting.

My favorite thing about the first game, is how Kain's VA will talk normally, but emphasizes the Soul Reaver to the extreme. "Spiked Mace" "Long Sword" "The Soooooooooooowl Reeeeeva"

Kain is definitely one of the best video game protagonists.

Damn, that "Vae Victus!" gave me flooding memories like when Kain pulled the blood reaver out of Raziel. You know a game left its mark on you when a simple line from it damn near puts you in the Avatar State.

Legacy of Kain defiance This was my first game with Kain Really an incredible game I love this character definetely my chyldhood here

I was absolutely addicted to Blood Omen! I used to sneak into the rooms of people who had it to play the beginning again and again. 🤣

Few series deserve a full series remaster like this one does. I have them all on PC and console and the graphics and controls could use an overhaul, but the story and dialog should be left intact.

As A Die Hard SEGA Man, Wow The First Few Years Of The PS1 Blew Me Away! Smash Hit After Hit, & Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain Is Amongst Those Hits. Simon Templeman's Voice Portrayal Of The Titular Lead Character Was & Is Amazing. & The Complete Saga As A Whole Was Absolutely Epic! Excellent Video!

I was 16 years old and I went to stay with my sister for a while and her husband had a Playstation with only one game,, SOUL REAVER..... I played it and was immediately completely blown away! I couldn't even believe that this type of achievement was possible for video games and it forever became my #1favorite game ever made! I have since played every other title in the series and I continue playing through them at least once a year trying to relieve that feeling of complete entertainment and the first Soul Reaver remains my favorite game of all time. What an incredible accomplishment! I now know why my brother in law had only 1 game....... SOUL REAVER IS THAT 1 GAME

The Legacy of Kain games are the reason why hack and slash games are my favorite. Soul Reaver came out right around the time I got the PS1 and it was the 3rd game I got for it. Came across blood omen at an eb games and saw Legacy of Kain on it and thought it had something to do with Soul Reaver and I loved that game. Still one of my favorites. The demo disc that came with my PS1 had it on there and it was so much fun so I had to use my saved Xmas money to get it. I've played them all and it's one of my most favorite game series. I'd love to see a reboot with today's graphics. That would be sick af

@@TexasHollowEarthI had a female Raziellim but yup, it would be grand if Crystal dared to go against the woke-strangled gaming industry and restored the BloodRaynes to gaming by giving us hot and deadly vampiress characters.I think one of the best was Castlevania's succubi who Capcom nabbed to make Niven in DMC4. Umah was amazing though tbf

I appreciate you highlighting such a wonderful game- the dialogue-superbly delivered by Simon Templeman (the voice of Kain), Tony Jay (the voice of Mortanius), and more- elevated LOK from a mere video game to a masterpiece of storytelling that Hollywood can't even begin to match.

One of my absolute favorite series this brings back so much nostalgia Thank you for this

apparently SQEX ran a very, very short and select survey for a new LoK but despite the overwhelming result towards a new LoK; SQEX would never pursue it and then released Crystal Dynamics after the Marvel's Avengers disaster. I think Crystal have collected back their IPs though

Really needs to be top notch visuals and revolutionary gameplay. Kain rids the world through hatefull vengence of the soul reavers destroying all life, even the animal kingdom. Blood omen series were stunning for a 15 year old boy as me. I understand with that game that in loved complex characters, well processed stories and OST. When they announced soul reaver i was socked and wanted to life the metroidvania experience again. But i was really dissaponted to find kain as a simple "bad guy" and raziel with 0 complexity all plain. And was really surprised that none of the millions of fans on soul reaver wanted to explore the previous game. Veredict: blood omen was mistreated

I'm a big fan of the entire series, but my favorite game is Blood Omen. The gameplay is still fun to this day. Just don't play the PS version, the load times are killer this day and age.

Modern day story telling can't hold a candle to the brilliance of legacy of Kain's deep lore and storycraft of this absolute masterpiece, loved it when it was first released and still love it in 2023, no game comes close to the awesomeness that is the Legacy of Kain, I still can't believe awhile back I was able to talk with Simon Templeman (Kain) through KZread, and gosh I completely nerded out it was such an honour to have that privilege that I'll never forget

I would definitely like to see another game in this series; I have very fond memories of playing Soul Reaver and Defiance in college, back in the early 2000s, and this and Suikoden are basically my list of franchises I long to see another game in. No idea if it's out of the scope of this channel, but maybe a similar video on Suikoden series? I would love that, and hope there are other fans who miss Viki, Jeanne, and the other recurring characters who dot the main line of those games.😊

I wouldn't want them to make anymore. Most of the voice actors are too old or dead. And they tryed to release lok dead sun which from what I saw was terrible and a nosgoth which was a battle royal game. I'm happy with the good games we have.

My first video game on PS1: Legacy Of Kain Soul Reaver... UFFFFFFF simply the best those wonderful times, then SR2 on PS2 and Defiance; then i played Blood Omen. I hope there'll be a remake of the complete serie !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I remember, the events of Blood Omen 2 occur after the events on Defiance (By the point of view of Kain, of course. In the new time-line created after Defiance. We are talking about time travels here.). You can see that Kain encounter Janos Audron during the game. In the time between BO1 (and before that) and Soul Reaver 1, he is dead (and his heart is in the chest of Kain). And Janos is corrupted when Kain encounter him. The same way as he was at the end of the Defiance time-line (where he is possessed by the Hylden Lord right after Raziel resurrect him.). What confuses the players of BO2, making they think that its before SR1, is the fact that Kain has its former young visual. But it occur because his vampire corruption was purified when he (and the reaver blade) absorbed Raziel and he defeated the Elder God.

Oh my god, awesome! I want more Legacy of Kain appreciation! ❤

Man, I miss deep stories like this. I've been playing the 1st Blood Omen recently. Of course, I've always known that Kain was an anti-hero, but it wasn't until recently that I finally realized that Mortanius was an anti-villain. To put it simply, an anti-hero does the right thing for the wrong reasons, and an anti-villain does the wrong thing for the right reasons. An anti-villain's ultimate goal is a heroic one, but he does bad things to achieve it because he believes it's necessary (and sometimes it is). Mortanius falls into that category because his ultimate goal was to restore the pillars, but of course, he had to do bad things to achieve that. Even if he restored the pillars himself, he still would've had to murder Kain to restore the pillar of balance... and then, of course, take his own life afterward.

Best vampire game I played on psn. Can't wait till they redo bloodrayne

I recently stumbled upon a question in an oldschool gaming forum asking "what videogame gave you the most mind blowing gaming experience?" I seriously considered all the Silent Hill Franchise, but on second thought, this is it. This truly is it. The reasoning behind every move leaving no real plot holes, in an overly complicated storyline, with a cinematic sheaksperean voice acting, and actual fun puzzles, mechanics and gameplay. Every game ending with a conclusion that leaves you befundled and in need for a solemn moment to process what had just happened. This is it.

mean a remake with small changes to the story to make it a little be easier to understand cuse me and a friend back in highschool had hours long conversations on what happened in the timelines and what matched up where and how people were connected was fun but confusing at times

Nice video, but does feel a little bit truncated as it seems to just skip over SR1, SR2 and Defiance - where Kain is at his absolute best. btw Denis later confirmed that "Wadulac" was the original name for Kain. And the secret playtest is pretty easy to work out when you realise they're supposed to be releasing Perfect Dark soon.

We need a remaster of this series.

Blood Omen was the only game that really did it for me, I always felt turning Kain into an antagonist and introducing Raziel was the wrong direction for the series.
