Such a brilliant series! They really transformed everything we knew about the Savage Land in that series, and the Brent Anderson art is so great

Ka-Zar is a Golden Age character...he was reintroduced in X-Men. It will have to give this a look. As always, great overview.

Yay!!! I’ve been waiting for this overview Omar. I’m 100% getting this. In my Opinion this content should be a Disney+ show and be the first to introduce us to the Savage Land. I can’t wait to read this in such a big beautiful book!

I guess nobody remembers the Kazar portfolio that was released. Beautiful Brent Anderson art work.

Is it not inside the Omni?

Really pleased this is coming out. I would like an omnibus for the earlier KaZar series. For anyone who wants to see Ka Zar’s earliest stories there is a trade paperback called King of Fang and Claw which reprints the text pulp stories in which he first appeared in Martin Goldman’s magazines

I had the original issues growing up so I’m tempted to pick up the Omni now it looks so good. Love Shanna and how she fits in so well in Ka-Zar’s world thanks to Bruce Jones’ writing. Great review!

One of the ones without letters pages if they and any that is. Nice about the editors like an issue of the Incredible Hulk and even and someone dressed like the Hulk. I am now just finding out about this after viewing your video about the Man thing Omnibus. I first heard of Kazar in The Marvel Saga where he was in that issue of the X-Men.

Had no idea what this was or any intent to get, but the art is truly lovely, esp. the first part is right down my alley, and those ladies look gorgeous 😍 Might have to grab myself a copy now 😅

The *Savage Dawn* collection & random single issues I've found over the years sold me on this omnibus years ago 😆 glad they're finally printing the whole thing, that paperback is getting worn!

Great review, I really want to pick this up now...I've liked Ka-Zar as a character ever since I was a kid and saw some Andy Kubert artwork of him and the rest of his supporting cast

Omar, your youth is showing! LOL! When this series originally came out it was HOT! Fabulous artwork by Anderson and a great series of story arcs by Jones. This, too me, is a MUST HAVE!

This looks way more interesting than i originally thought it would. Solid art throughout and looks like it's not bogged down by tons of 616 continuity due to limited amounts of substantial crossovers

Thanks for this review! I am planning to buy this book. I've read the first few stories and I found them interesting.

As a kid I always pronounced Ka-Zar as "cass-ah" and I still do. Also, Submareena and Magnet-oh

I haven’t read this since it came out, I can remember it being a great book though as I was buying it every month. Bruce Jones did a great job and am tempted by this.

Great review as always, Omar 🤛 I only wish they had also released an Omnibus containing the earlier Ka-Zar material That was only made available in the two Marvel Masterworks volumes devoted to him. 🤔

Absolutely.

This looks good, but at this rate it's looking like Kirby's 2001 will be the last Omni release ever. Anyway, Omar here's a suggestion for the Marvel guys- how about a Omni of film adaptations? Logan's Run, CE3K, Blade Runner, Battlestar Galactica... There were some great comics based on films. (They could sneak 2001 in there too, 'nuff said).

I know nothing about this series but I really loved Bruce Jones' Hulk so I'm quite interested on this one.

Whew you’ve been pumping out the vids lately. Props! Great looking book but I’m not sure it’s for me. Won’t be surprised if I end up seeing this in my dad’s library though.. Algorithm gang!

Ok I picked this up dirt cheap new a few weeks ago and I can not believe cancel culture has not gotten to marvel. That poor shanna chick was a punching bag for kazar and others but when peter parker let loose with a slap that took the taste right out of her mouth I was like dammmmmmmmnnnn!

On the one hand we're getting great books that we waited for so long. (maybe too much even to follow) On the other hand the quality of Marvel Omnibuses is declinning. I mean the quality of the books and papers. This leaves me into a dilemma all the time with those Turkey omnis. Is it a good idea to buy those now, or should I wait to see if quality improves with the reprints ?

Everyone wants a pet Zabu.

I love both covers.

Never read this series of Ka-Zar. The art of Brent Anderson looks like it came straight out of a Tarzan comic. Partial toward the DM cover although the regular cover is pretty good too. I might get this just for the Tarzan in Pellucidar vibe. Would have loved to be able read the letter pages as fan comments on niche books are always interesting.

Hi all! I just have to share my frustration regarding this Omnibus here.... I bought it last week, so when looking through I have noticed, that this book is way down from the usual Omnibus standards that we are used to! Apparently this is all thanks to a certain Collection Editor named Jennifer Grunwald. First of all, the cover... why the cover doesn't look 100% like the original #1 or #2 the Direct Market cover. On classic Omnibuses we always had the full original covers before! I am always looking forward reading the introductions in the Omnibuses, but where is the introduction from the beginning of this book?? Omnibuses, especially which have appeared already in Masterworks format have introduction written by some of the creators and then another one in the middle, depending how many Masterworks worth of material the book contains! Then the lettering pages! The advantage of Omnibuses, other than the slightly bigger page size, was that they were containing the lettering pages as well! How come that those are not included in the book which has the same price as any other Omnibus which has these included.... and the covers of the issues, they have a weird and useless frame, which actually makes them a little smaller. Sad to see that someone did a very poor job designing and organizing this book, big let down from what we are used to, when paying the big money for these Omnibuses! I will keep my eye open for new Omnibuses coming next month. How I wish I could ask them personally about these issues....

Thank you again for such a detailed overview - I was deeply skeptical about this and the Aliens Omnibus, but in showing off as much of each book as you did you’ve persuaded me to pick up both. Additionally, 1) could you check whether the Claremont & Lee X-Men Vol. 2 Omni is due to receive any restocks soon, and 2) Could you check on the status of the Kirby Complete War and Romance Omni? It’s already gone from IST, Diamond is out, and I can’t tell what its PRH status is.

@@NearMintCondition Also, Max at CGN confirmed via email that the X-Men Classic omni is officially OOP and impossible to obtain more copies of. Please appeal to David to consider a reprint for 2022-23 - I really think that though sales for the first printing were slow until last year that with the momentum X-books have since gained that it’d sell much better from the outset on another go-around.

I believe Dazzler, Marvel Fanfare and this series were among the earliest Direct Market titles. Moon Knight and others may have joined them, as well.

One more thing: Has there been any consideration of an OHC, Complete Collection, or small omni of Waid & Kubert’s Ka-Zar run since both of the 2012 TPBs collecting it have finally gone OOP?

I always thought Marvel's Red Sonja from the 1970s was quite brilliant and am saddened we won't see it in an Omni to match the others (due to rights issues, by Crom).

Nice overview as always, Omar! I have a question for you. How do you feel about using Book holders or laptop stands to read Omnibus? Do you think they're a good idea or that inclined position is bad for the spine?

Funny, he reminds me of the Wolf Larson Tarzan from the early '90s TV series. Maybe he would have made a better Ka-Zar !

Got a question about Usagi Yojimbo, and I'm wondering if the recent HC's were only made available in the direct market? I'm not yet into the series so I didn't realize the HC's would be a limited edition and it seems that my normal source for buying books in Europe didn't get any stock in, so I'm now hoping I'm not too late.

I liked the beginning of this series but felt it went off the rails when Kazar went to New York. Guess I prefer Kazar in the Savage Land. That Belasco storyline was awesome back in the day.

I was so sad when Micronauts went direct market since at that time I could only buy whatever was stocked at my local small town drug store.

It always hits me when I see a pic of the twin towers. Didn't know about that cover. I'm looking forward to this omni and have it pre-ordered.

I never knew this title was alive and I'm from this era of collecting. It looks good but I never been a fan of kazar. I think if I buy this it will just sit on my shelf like howard the duck except I paid 25 bucks shipped for howard.

Oh man this book looks so good too. But I can't. I mustn't. There are other comics in the world to buy than just the newest Marvel omnibus. I must remain strong.

Actually didn't kazar start in the pulps, before even Marvel Comics #1?

I wasn't going to get this. Despite enjoying the character, as well as 70's-80's Marvel, I just wasn't going to do it. So many omni's over the last few years, a super expensive few months of reprints and new releases, and tons of good ones coming out through 2022, all meant that I was happy with my decision to not get this book. But...darn you, Omar! I just had to click on this review, didn't I? Sigh.

Looks like a fun read. Never read it... :)

This is a MUST-HAVE!!!! And, please, read it as "KHA-Zar", sounds more natural and priMordial :) and, WHY does it say "First Printing 2020" at the bottom of the 2nd page?

T plus? actually Ka zar is a golden age character . basically every golden age comic had a tarzan clone or a jungle girl in it. this run is terrific. i have to stop watching this channel. my bank account will thank me.
