ಕಂಗೀಲು ಕುಣಿತ|| ✨❤️UDUPI FEETS ❤️✨||

Kangilu is a traditional folk art performed by the Mandal communities of Udupi district, Karnataka.
This art form is performed distinctly on full moon days.
People of this community believe that it instills positive energy and fosters peace and harmony among themselves.
This art form has a devotional aspect wherein the dance of presiding deity 'Koragajja' is potrayed. This dance is performed in many religious ceremonies. It is additionally believed that 'Lord Shiva' came in the form of 'Koragajja' and cured the diseases.
Kangilu is performed by 5-12 artists wearing similar costumes(Vesha). The costumes are attractive and it incorporates the coconut leaves which are tied around the waist and the neck. These coconut leaves are the centre of attraction.
This piece of art performed with live music that usually comprises of an vocalist, flutist,barrel drums and cymbals.
The dance in the video is Choreographed by Guru. Gurucharan Pollipu, he has been awarded the Karnataka Rajyotsava Prashasti for Kangilu in the year 2021.
This is performed by Team UDUPI FEETS. The team consists of 12 members (7 girls & 5 boys) from NSS, NCC, ROVERS & cultural association, which consists of students of 2 colleges of Udupi District namely PoornaPrajna College and Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College. Our team had participated in the Republic Day Parade - 2022.
