K5 / K6 GSX-R1000 Stock exhaust and EXCVA servo removal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is how to remove a K5 / K6 GSX-R1000 exhaust with the EXCVA servo motor. In the video the gixer I'm working on is a K6 (2006) but it is the same removal for a K5 (2005). It took me about 45 minutes to remove the stock exhaust and put on the aftermarket slip-on. I didn't include the installation on the after market exhaust because I don't know if different vendors require different installs. So your on your own with that.

    Awesome Video man! you saved me a trip to a bike tuner. Followed all your steps and no problems at all. Just installed my slip on today and it sounds sick and runs awesome.

    Just a couple notes (and a thanks for the vid!). The process is very easy. I did not remove the right side fairing all the way, just undid the back enough for stock exhaust to come off. Having two people for this is a plus, as one can hold the exhaust while the other disconnects the servo wires off the exhaust. Also, you can remove servo from under the tank as well, so keep your tank up until you've disconnected the harness connectors going to it as I think it's easier than going under the tail. The hardest part of this for me was getting that little black wire with brown tracer to come out. Other than that, it's about an hour job tops, no special tools needed.

    Thanks for this. I had a lot of problems getting the wire out - I eventually took the decision to cut it leaving enough each end to solder it if I ever wanted to fit the std. exhaust again. It works, you can jut cut it.

    Awesome - thanks alot for doing this vid. I just did this mod tonight, had read up all the info I could find but nothing like seeing it done - I knew exactly what I had to do. Only thing is that I really had to pull on the B/Br wire to get it out of the plug (I got a pair of pliers on there and levered it out!) Other than that it's all sweet! Cheers!

    That's an old video, but thanks if you're still around here, it was useful. On my GSXR 1000 K4 it was exactly the same, except for the ECU connector. Here is a link if someone need to know what to unplug on K3/K4 : www.motopiste.net/t36813-comment-supprimer-le-fi-de-la-valve-d-echappement If you don't speak french, just look at the picture : unplug wire 1 = valve removal / unplug wire 2 = full power. Unplug both = smile on your face. Valve removed today, I'm going to try that on track tomorrow 🙂 it probably won't make a huge difference but I had an error code occasionally, which I suspect was caused by that getting stuck somehow.

    Ok I found it. It is a black wire with a brown stripe. It is the black plug under your seat. The black wire with the brown stripe is the 5th slot from the left. Do Not unplug the excva servo because it will make the bike run in a safe mode. Hope that helps.

  • @homie6801
    @homie680114 жыл бұрын

    @claytonc101 I did some research and found that you pull the black wire with a brown stripe. Then remove the exhaust valve cables from the EXCVA servo. DO NOT unplug the EXCVA servo. That is why it is running in safe mode. Good Luck!

    The way i did it was I put a sewing needle in the female end and inside there is little a plastic tab you can push up to release the wire. The trick is you have to pull the wire as you release the tab.

    @08luisrod It gives you more power with an aftermarket pipe and reduces the weight. It's the black wire harness, black wire with the brown stripe, 5th one from the top left. Good luck!

    @cjaraza Make sure you didn't by mistake pull out any of the other wires and also make sure the harness is clipped in. Another thing you could do (I've done this before) is make sure the battery terminals are secure and check your fuses incase you popped one. I hope that helps.

    If you do not feel comfortable like me, you can order a Servo Buddy online for 60 bucks and connect it where you disconnected the servo motor from to remove it. plug that in and it will not throw a FI and no light will come on as it reads to the ecu that all is working normally.

    okay... i already have an aftermarket twobrother exaust on my 2006 gsxr600... my f1 light will kick on... but when i turn the key on i can hear my servo clicking.. will i need to disconect that wire to get the f1 light off.....and disconnect the servo?

  • @claytonc101
    @claytonc10114 жыл бұрын

    @homie6801 alright I pulled the black with brown strip wire. I don't know if it would be different on a 600, but the f1 light is still on and is blinding me.... does the bike run any different on safe mode.... and do I have to take the valve plate and everything out of the exhaust, then pull the wire?

    @theothistler pull out black wire with brown stripe, tape and secure it. The SET servo under the tank cannot be removed or it will throw a FI light.

    The 1000 is a totally different design. From what I found about your bike it might run in a safe mode if you unplug the excva, but if it hasn't done that at all I wouldn't worry about it.

    Good video. I wanted to know exactly what this does? Does it have better flow in the exhaust? And would you happen to know what wire it would be for a k7 Gsxr 750

  • @homie6801
    @homie680114 жыл бұрын

    @claytonc101 Yes, but once you disconnect the wire it will cut off power to the servo.

  • @homie6801
    @homie680114 жыл бұрын

    @H82BLEGL It should be that easy it's just getting the locking plates off to get to the wire. It is the 34 pin ecu connector with the white locking plate and it is the black wire with a brown stripe. Good luck!

    Hey homie6801 since when do we "rejet" a fuel injected bike? Did all this today for the third time and the only thing I can think of that helps is to remove the footrest. Gives a little more 'wriggle' room.

    Good vid fella, Just one question, why bother removing the EXCVA servo from the back end if it's been deactivated by the wire being removed seems like a lot of faffing for no reason, then you if you need to re-install the stock pipe you can, if you leave the EXCVA servo in place.

    I don't think it is the same color. I searched on the internet but could not find anything on the color of the wire. You might try different forums or it might even be in your owners manual. Good luck.

    @palespiral Your bike thinks you still have that servo and is running in safe mode because you didn't remove the wire. Remove it like in the video and that FI light should go out .

  • @homie6801

    You might not want to do that. Your bike needs a certain amount of back pressure. You might have to rejet if you do that.
