Outside of Soulja Boy who in the rap game ever really went at Ice? LL back in the days, but that was just 2 emcees going back and forth wasn't no real beef. He's respected in rap by almost everybody, people in the streets of LA respect him. And metal fans and other metal bands respect him for Body Count. In the late 80's and early 90's Rhyme Syndicate was the shit. The Iceberg was the 1st cd I bought when I got my CD player back in uh 89. man I miss the fucking 80's so much. Dude knows how to hustle for real, he could make money doing anything. If you watch an interview with him on TV he's so fucking smooth and funny and shit. I swear he should run for president lol.

J.R. Williams Ice T was always a respected name on a metal scene, even before the Body Count, because he was always vocal about his love for metal. Lyricaly, Hip Hop in general had a huge influence on metal bands in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Most, if not all thrash metal bands are huge hip hop fans.

The thing about the 43 Hoovers is they was more about they $ then being a War gang. And what really put thêm in extinction is they didn't recruit youngsters. My Uncle would tell me they wasn't like the other Hoovers they wouldn't allow just anyone to be from they sét and can't nobody say anyone from 43 Hoover ever told.

I think Ice-T had homies from sixtys way back. He most certainly grew up in Crip neighborhood. Regardless he’s definitely a certified legend. Ice-T, N.W.A., and Dj Quik definitely brought gang life mainstream. I’ll never forget when I moved to Baltimore in 1981 I had a class picture from Raymond Avenue I showed my Baltimore cousins. They asked me what I was doing with my hands? I told them it was a gang sign. Mind you this is 1981 I was 12 years old. Nobody from the east coast knew nothing about gang life. And when Ice-T and everybody started talking about it people here was saying too me oh that’s what you were talking about way back then. It’s just amazing how far that culture has come. Proud to be from Cali. 79th and Vermont

I would like to know more about the BKF. Sounds pretty cool, especially for that time. I feel like most young black men who grew up in the 70s had some affinity for martial arts movies, and many of us at minimum imitated what we saw on film with our friends in our play time. Some took it further and studied. It seems like there was a political movement attached to it back then promoting honor, respect, and unity in the community. That's a powerful tool.

As far as political the BKF was founded to represent Black Fighters, who were being discriminated against in competition. I did read that LAPD were harassing the BKF in their early years. Following students and what not. No doubt it gave many a brother a place to stay out of trouble and love themselves.

It's a trip never thinking I'd make it to 50 yrs, but remembering all of these cats from the mid 70's ti'll now, is a trip. My grandmother stayed at 6811 S. Haas Ave, we stayed on 78th & Budlong, Crazy D (ETG/ETH) & my family stayed on 52nd & Hoover & the same year we moved on 78th, they moved on 75th off of Raymond. My house was the spot while we were all kids (before the gangs set in), during the summer programs at Pepperdine, the carnivals that we had at Pepperdine, eating nonstop at Hamburger Henri's, bumming chili dogs from Art's... those were the days. Even my brother watches these videos, and his ass is doing 30 to life, but he's determined to be on here. He's Grape from 74 Hoova. I'm just glad to see cats still making it.
