old JVC sounds much better while the new one sounds muddy

Excellent review. And I’m glad you distinguished between mid bass and deep bass. The new jvc has no deep bass. That’s a complete failure in my book. I must have deep bass. I was surprised at how well the homepod was at reproducing deep bass so well.

Just got mine (the 200 version without DAB) and I was disappointed. The sound is very muddy with bass filling up the sound. I agree that the full range speakers can't cope with the subs. Even at 0 bass the sound is half decent only if you stand in front of the "boomblaster". Although there are no tweeters the high are very directional. So unless you are in front of it, all you listen is bass. Even that bass doesn't get at "sub" levels. The good thing is that there is zero distortion even at 100% and Bass 2 setting. I also can't agree with the 60Watt (RMS) label...

Thanks for posting some Db curves. I was always curious how the JVC's compared to the JBL (Samsung) Boombox. As I restore a B90 and B99, I'm still curious about the old class A/B amps versus the now common class D in every modern boom box. The NB300 is most certainly class D, as is the JBL. Can a difference be heard? Is it more fatiguing to listen to one versus the other?

First of all thanks for a nice video of this units to show off the sound. However it is hard to get the exact sound record on microphone like this. I own the new JVC 300 DAB-BT. Now for a unit that you can take with you and run on battery the woffer is nice. But the downside is that it only have 2 woffer settings. I wish it had setting like on the old units level 1-6. It is allso hard to get best sound from it when play on high volume (70%). Since it have EQ but all pre set so you cant change settings (tweak) All in all it play nice but it is little bad to find optimal settings, I often must change EQ/woffer settings to allot of songs.

The jbl is killing it at 75% volume. For a speaker a lot smaller it sure has a hefty sound.

Love my JVC Kaboom. Great memories of house parties with it.It looks even better after being beat up.You can hit this thing off walls and other equipment and it still goes.It sounds great while standing on its edge in my kitchen.Im impressed with the JBL though, but want a smaller one for camping.

One thing i noticed with the jvc 300 is the Bluetooth does not sound good, cd player sounds much better.

I like to fit them light up speaker's into the RV-NB52 Kenwood JVC. I've also got two silver ones too RV-NB40 these go for good money on eBay. people would rather have the older models quality I guess you can get Bluetooth adapter for them too

you can buy a bluetooth to aux adapter with a battery, or you can power it with a powerbank. Or you buy a bluetooth board and build it into the boombox.

@@Eireeth yes seen them but I've just got too adapters for them where the iPod uster sit just plugs on. & I've got some salvaged lithium battery too put in. IAM gunner just solder to the 12v connector on the inside then can also charge with it that way with the right adapter plug

I own an JVC RV-NB1 Boombox for nearly 20 years now, and i Always wondered wether or not i should get one of the newer models. The only differences i saw throughout the years is that they added: Bluetooth/ Ipod Dock/ Smartphone Dock/ Removed Cassette player, But i always wondered what the sound quality differences would be. Now that i have seen this video i know that i actually prefer my old JVC boombox over the newer ones, and that they even sound better than the JBL boombox 2, In my youngher rebellious Punker years, I really was into Goa Trance/ Psycedelic Progressive Trance, and every New years eve, and Queensday, i would do a Rave party on the move. I found a video of some American tourists spotting me as i walked by with my boombox back in 2006: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gHufwZKne6TIfNY.html Also the old JVC actually works really well in heavy Rainstorms aswell... there are many New years eve's ive spend Raving in the Rain... so its kinda waterproof too, hehehe.

They are stating they don't send to the US and all I need is a power converter and I have one so how in the world can I get one?

Hi I have jvc 300 but it’s lacking treble too much bass. is there anything external I can connect such as a equalizer through the Aux ?

do you use it on your phone? on the pc there is the programm "rew" on the phone there should be equalizer apps too

Do you no the name of that little 12v plug on the back I can't seem to find it anywhere on eBay it has a little pin inside. I don't know why they used this type it would be so much easier with the female one ? It's for the JVC rv_nc40 boomblaster

put it inside a car. then rave party. a lovely boomblaster. the fm+ are turned off. only on channal left for the 5g arrives 20xx in norway. but now that wifi 6 ax can do the work too. when not connected to powercord the bass and sound goes lower down.

damn both of the JVC's sound better than the JBL imo. but the older JVC takes the win by a longshot. Old JVC was just epic, JVC made some amazing stuff with really cool designs. don't think I'd buy the new stuff though edit: the old jvc is definitely better actually watching this again

Bass is pure physics, how much air a woofer can push. You just can't convey this via any means. Maybe a good much and recording device can give you an idea but that's about it.

@@NikoWax i agree, this recording should only give you an idea how they compare against each other, of course the sound is somehow colored from the speakers you listen and from my cheap smartphone mic. Thats why i did a frequency response, so you can see the difference between them.

This thing looks horrible. I sold my old B99 in 2009, because it developed some errors, but I still regret it.. Later on, I bought the NB50, and I still have it. Still looks like new actually. Soundwise it's not as good as the old B99, but it has a decent sound in it. The materials are also way better than on this new NB300 version.

I'm pretty sure they all use the same material. What matters is the sound. Apparently this new model is louder. Best looking for me was the sharp boombox

I also have read in reviews that JVC’S new boom blaster scratches CDS 💿 ! There is some kind of imperfection malfunction in the CD player unit that causes this! So imagine playing an old treasured CD in this thing only to have it scratched up! I’ll pass!

The jbl has a secret weapon: LFM ( Low Frequency Mode). I don’t think you had it activated.
