JTE had so many songs left to sing. Watching this makes me feel happy sad and angry all at the same time.

Discover him just this year and learned of his death afterwards. Such a shame and great talent. You can hear his suffering in music. Being in recovery myself this hit me hard. Hard to explain.

Still fucks me up even 2 years later. Spent a lot of my musical formative years learning from this guy, listening to his music & writing and trying to emulate parts of his unique style. He was such an enigma. Only saw him 3 times live, met him once but never really knew him. RIP Justin.

He was absolutely not sober here... He relapsed onto alcohol and cocaine the month before. It was right when the Saint of Lost Causes album was released and he started touring for the record. He was so bad his bandmates thought they wouldn't be able to finish the tour. In early 2020 just before Covid he was in really bad shape, and by July of 20' he was in hospital with pneumonia from aspirating. He got out of hospital, went right back to alcohol and coke and died less than 3 weeks after being released. That's not my opinion, that's straight from his wife and bandmates. It's such a shame. He really was one of the great songwriters.
