Justin P. Shares His Kanso® Upgrade Experience

Ғылым және технология

Find out more about the Kanso Upgrade experience here: bit.ly/2J88W19
Justin found out he had hearing loss when he was four years old, beginning his hearing journey. He has had a Cochlear Implant for seven years and is on his 3rd upgrade with the Kanso Sound Processor.
Justin describes his Kanso upgrade experience as something he is ‘wowed’ and amazed at. For him, he finds the off-the-ear sound processor very comfortable, which enables him to do everything he did before, including running and biking. Additionally, Justin utilizes True Wireless™ accessories and Bluetooth® to connect to various devices for work and everyday life.

    (I hope you can understand me because English is my second language and I don't speak it well) I am 17 years old and I took Kanso 1 in 5th grade (at the age of 11). And I still have this hearing device. So I've had it as a hearing device for six years. Guys don't get the Kanso 1 because it's a very bad hearing aid. The advantages of Kanso 1 are that you can play football or basketball without problem (you can use Kanso 1 with a hair clip if you want to play comfortably during training, game or life). BUT the disadvantage is that you can't hear well. I mean you can't hear what people are saying to each other. If you go out with a new friend, you will ask him "what, what did you say or didn't I hear can you repeat it" etc etc. You won't listen to your classmates. And because of this you will have no friends. So you will be alone. I don't have any friends. So I haven't found a friend for 2 years. From class 10 till now (class 11). After Middle School and Junior High school ( Grade 1-9 ) I had no friends in Secondary high school (Grade 10- present 11). I was lucky to have friends when I was in Middle School and Junior High School ( Grade 1-9 ), but my luck ran out in Secondary high school (Grade 10- present 11 ). You will have problems with pronunciation, so you will have an accent. I have a close friend and he has Nucleus 7 and speaks like he is from our country. People will ask you every time "where are you from, you don't look like you are from here etc etc which is very annoying for me. I suggest you guys don't buy this. I am warning you because you will suffer a lot just like me. It is better if you get Nucleus 7 or 8. If you don't have money for Nucleus 7 or 8, buy KANSO 2 but DO NOT BUY KANSO 1. You will suffer a lot. Don't buy it. It doesn't matter the comfort or the model, it matters how well it sounds. You can't hear anything with kanzo 1. ( I hope that you understand me because as I said English is my second language ).

    I have nucleus 7 for few months now and I absolutely love it. But I noticed the battery cover is bit heavy for my ear even if I attached it with snugfit. I love NucleusSmart that I can change the program or volume on my iPhone 📱. I am thinking of having Kanso on my left side. My 2 questions. Question 1: Am I able to change the volume or program from my iPhone if I wear Kanso? Or do I need to use remote “cr230” or does NucleusSmart App can still work with Kanso? Question 2: I think the reason why I hear the music from iPhone clearly is due from acoustic amplification. I read that Kanso doesn’t have “acoustic amplification”, does it mean the sound of music will be different? Will someone help me so I can be easy when it is time to make my appointment to use upgrade Kanso or continue N7. Thank you 🙏🏾 for helps

    I personally use nucleus 7 or a behind the ear form because I can listen to music with headphones and also chat with my friends when I’m playing.

    Very informative video, I am theft on the left ear and the right ear is getting very bad, my hearing aid does not work any more, also I have Meniere's disease making hearing almost impossible to understand speech, I love this device but I wonder I could afford it even with my health insurance could be too expensive. How much does it cost? thanks.

    Hello, I recently was told by my doctor that I might qualify for a cochlear implant. I haven't had my first appointment yet. My question is do they give you a choice in between something like Kanso or Nucleus 7? is this patient preference or Dr. Choice? Thank you

    Hi Victor! Thank you for reaching out. The cochlear implant's external sound processor is patient choice; Kanso and Nucleus 7 are different designs which serve the same purpose. If you have any additional questions, please contact one of our friendly Representatives at 1-800-805-3531, by emailing Candidatesupport@Cochlear.com or by using the Connect with Us live chat option listed below Monday - Friday from 9am to 4pm MT. @thilinipiumali1864 මිනිත්තු 34කට පෙර is this true? Can the external sound device be taken at the patient’s will? Is there no risk then? I lost my hearing due to a bacterial infection. (sensory neural deafness ) Is this right for me?

    Thank you for reaching out. The computer would not be able to connect directly to your Cochlear sound processor however, with the use of the Mini Microphone 2+ you should be able to stream audio from your computer to your sound processor. Can you use the phone the normal way

  • @CochlearAmericas

    @CochlearAmericas

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for reaching out. Some recipients hold the phone up to the sound processor to listen to their calls however with a Kanso sound processor, this may be a bit tricky since it sits further back on the head. Many recipients prefer to stream the call directly to the sound processor or use the wireless phone clip accessory which also enables recipients to go hands -free. It just depends on what your preference is.

    This reminds me of an infomercial. These implants don’t restore natural hearing. They should be the last resort.
