    Great work. I remember having some installed in the past but I couldn't stand the noise the toe plates made. they were properly installed. Is the noise due to the way I walk or do they always make a bit of noise when walking?

    Hi sir, I really enjoyed your video. Do you think I could use a lulu plate for the heel too? I saw a few gents doing that on their heels. Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for your answer sir. Do you suggest anything that could do the job? Because I can’t find those little triangles you suggest in your video.. Have a nice New Year’s Eve!

    can metal toe plates like these or the brass ones be added to a blake stitched dress shoe?

    They sure can. It’s best to do it on a new sole however because blake stitched sole are thinner a lot of the time

    Do you cut through the stitching?

  • @CobblersPlus

    @CobblersPlus

    We do our best not to do that. With a new pair especially ones that have the blind stitch like these we usually don’t but if it is a used pair where we have no choice but to cut the stitches we use a solution that binds the stitches.

    @@CobblersPlus and does this not compromise the integrate of the shoe ?

    As a fail safe the glue holds very well on the sole. If we really have to cut into the stitches we either restitch the sole or if it’s worn down a lot we may recommend doing a new sole either to tip on the sole, half sole or full sole. Just depends on how it’s worn. New shoes usually have plenty of room for the toe plates without cutting the stitches.
