    FUN FACT:S This movie was initially supposed to be the the link film between the TV series JUSTICE LEAGUE and JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED, but scheduling pushed back its release. It was written by 'late the late, great' Dwayne McDuffie. His rye sense of humor is all over the script. At the New York premiere James Woods, praised Dwayne for his writing at the after party. If I remember correctly, this movie was originally proposed as a movie to connect the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoon series, but instead became a stand alone movie. Explains how the League grows between the two series, how wonder woman gets the invisible jet, the core League members, ect.

  • @thedefinitionisthis

    @thedefinitionisthis

    Yup, it was designed to take place within the DCAU, before it became its own thing. It’s definitely clear, given the introductions to stuff like Wonder Woman’s invisible jet & teleporters, and the ending that has the JL deciding to expand their ranks; all things that became the norm in JLU.

    McDuffie was a brilliant writer, but I can't let the Earth 2 diss pass. This was a very broad adaptation, missing several cool points I really liked, like revealing more about the Crime Syndicators, like Ultraman's backwards origin- Astronaut Clark Kent altered by aliens into a super and driven mad by the experience - or how Johnny Quick and Power Ring differ from their Earth 1 counterparts. That said, McDuffie making Superwoman a Mary Marvel counterpart instead of a WW was a stroke of genius.

If I even get my hands on Luthor's dimension hopper, I'll be sure to check 😉

    This was written by the incomparable Dwayne McDuffie (who also was the writing genius behind Justice League, JLU, The Milestone Universe and so many other comics). It was originally to be the interstitial between the end of Justice League Star Crossed and the beginning of Justice League Unlimited. But, it was held back and converted into a direct to video. The reason why it has so much fleshed is because it has the weight of the Timmverse behind it. It's such a great film and the cast is top notch.

    Fave Justice League movie. The way they show their teamwork AND their individual strengths was great. I felt like all of that was portrayed properly. Batman doesn't have plot-armor, actually loses and still gets his moment, Superman is actually the leader and is a proper combination of strength and power, Wonder woman is portrayed as an actual strong woman and not as a b*tch (I actually like her fights the best) and the rest of the league shines on their own fights. I think having Crime Syndicate as an enemy instead of a faceless army w/c we've seen so many times before was also brilliant.

    Fun fact: this movie was supposed to be a bridge between the original run of the Justice League show and Justice League Unlimited, as in the latter show there's a sudden influx of numerous superheroes. The construction of the Watchtower in this movie is further proof of this as in the finale of the original show, the first Watchtower gets destroyed during the Thanagarian invasion. The character designs too look a bit like the DCAU. I guess because of budget reasons or something this movie got pushed back and by the time they got round to making it, the DCAU had already ended. That's why we have a brand new voice cast and altered plot and designs to sever ties with the old shows. Even the people involved aren't the same as the ones who worked on the shows.

    YES! This is one of my favourites aside from dark knight returns. Owl man is one of the hidden gems of Batman/league villains, and this movie is near perfect in its characterisation, visuals and audio, and managed to make a multiverse film with virtually no plot holes or flawed ideas, something that most multiverse or big universe type films often fail to do(particularly nowadays). Love this film and love your reaction!

    This movie was actually suppose to be in the animated universe, with the old justice league cartoon. I think something happened with the scheduling and etc. Along with Justice League Doom that was suppose to set in the universe and I think since they kept coming out with solo projects like this, they ended up making another DCAU which was the one you guys watched Justice league Dark: apocalypse war and that universe. Feel free to check, cause I might be wrong abt one of the movie but I know that one of them was suppose to set in that whole universe with the justice league cartoon show.

    Justice League: Doom was never supposed to be set in the DCAU. It became a direct sequel to Crisis on Two Earths and Crisis on Two Earths was supposed to be the bridge as a movie to Unlimited when it was called Worlds Collide.

    I hadn't thought of it but yeah it's funny how this movie and even some episodes of JL Unlimited did a lot of the things we've come to expect from multiverse films and also doing it really well, and did it SEVERAL years before it became the new "popular thing"

    This was my favorite animated flick from DC set outside the DCAMU. Glad you guys reviewed this one! Plus i'm guessing it's not but in my head cannon I used to imagine this film set in the same universe as Young Justice because of the similar art styles.

    As morbid as it sounds I love how Owlmans idea of nothing matters comes back around in the end. When he's teleported to the ice planet it doesn't matter what he does. Whether he let's the bomb blow up or not he will die regardless. If you really think about it earth prime would of already been destroyed by one of the infinite other people like him but either due to some cosmic force stopping it or the multiverse being reformed after being destroyed it all starts over anyway only proving his point that nothing matters. If nothing matters though then anything CAN matter. It's your choice to give meaning to everything. Not because it has to be, but because you choose it to be.

    I like how Coy is starting to conenct more with animation because of stuff like this. This one is one of my favourites from DC, and I agree,one of my favourite Justice League things, hard stop. There's nothing I would complain about that this movie did. I would have liked maybe a bit more about the new League members at the end, maybe more time with Jester, but everything the movie actually did with the characters was great

    I think that the made-men are this universe is version of the Shazam Family . Since if you go by the Comics, Super-Woman is actually Mary Batson (or as we know her in the main continuity: Mary Marvel. Shazam’s foster sister.)

    Superwoman with the Crime Syndicate takes the alias of Lois Lane in the comics while being an Amazon so she is an amalgam of Lois and Wonder Woman post-Crisis. The movie changed it up to make her a version of Mary Marvel. It was an original idea.
