My wife just passed away a little over 4 months ago, and one of Roopa's greatest loves was Indian song & music from the heart....I don't even understand the language, but at 1:19-1:32 it made me cry 😰......the music and words feel like Roopa's heart 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙

I feel Lataji got the honour of singing most of the beautiful songs but whenever Ashaji got a chance, she made complete use of the opportunity. Umrao Jaan is the best album sung by Ashaji till date.. The lines 'Aye Adaa.. Aye Adaa sunaye bi to haal apna' gives me goose bumps. Sharayar and Khayyam have woven this poetry with pearls from heaven

Can never tire of listening to this melodious Gazal . Only Ashaji can sing it with such sensuality .

The lines तुझको रूसवा ना किया , खुद भी....... feels like Rekhaji described her own life. She deserves best but... What a movie a masterpiece.

@Bhadwa Modi but i still feel geet me jaan dalne wala music director hi hota hai, hum koi gana sirf uske shabdo ki vajah se to nahi sunte, dhun achi ho to log automatically pasand krte hai..i agree that the poet should be praised too but in Bollywood i feel the one who makes music will always be more important .

Very beautiful rendering by Asha and Rekha's awesome performance.

In early childhood ... I did not understand a single word of it... but now... I have no words... to describe this ...just beyond imagination...

Who knew this that rekha will be a top most heroine of the day leaving many talented heroines behind her.

The music and poetry will carry this movie for centuries ahead. Rekha has been never nor ever will be better . It was the zenith of both, Khayyam sahab's and Sharyar's careers. Ashaji was the soul of the album. Her velvet voice breathed life into Umrao and have us swooning unto this day.

Kudos to amir ji the lyricist, kayyam sir,muzzaffar ali ji,rekha ji latha ji the great people behind umrao jaan. India touched a new level in cinema a picture which no one can create
