The reveal that shouldnt have worked because of how casual it is but ended up working perfectly BECAUSE of how casual it is

Just so you know. In the AoT timeline, This happened literally the next day after they fought annie in the city.

The fact anyone primed you or even warned you about this episode is criminal. The comment sections are the worst.

The music was epic, they save that music for an important moment like this epidose.

I still say this episode right here is when AoT changes and becomes more than just another anime - the way it subverts everyone's expectations masterfully (and continues doing it throughout the series).🙏

Even when you've seen the episode multiple times, Reiner's delivery of the 'big' reveal is still wild. Throughout the whole anime, Reiner is constantly delivering the best lines.

What gets me is the level of realism. Like, if I were in Reiner and Bertholt’s position I probably would’ve casually dropped it too cause like… how do you actually tell someone something like that? Insane writing 11/10

😂 I love how reactors initially think the subs were incorrect and then go WHAT?! at that casual reveal. even in the manga the reveal isn't framed in any dramatic way in bold, giant text or whatever.

Eren remembering their training and how they GREW UP together really got to me. Imagine someone you grew up looking up to, who taught you and was always kind to you suddenly after all those years turns out to be the enemy.

Reiner is one of my favourite anime characters of all time. So well written. Tension in that episode was unreal then the nonchalant reveal. (Chefs kiss.)

i remember this reveal and betrayel everywhere when it first aired lol. One moment Reiner was a big brother figure to everyone and bertholdth a introverted peer, the next betrayels.
