Well guys it’s been a messy week here at Barum engines, the offices are in a state, the workshop is in a state and now this, will it ever get better?

I seem to remember from a previous video of yours that the Cosworth engines like the damaged one have a deep groove ball bearing at the front of each camshaft. After being hit with enough force to snap the camshaft I would change the bearing no matter how good it felt otherwise a good likelihood it'll fail prematurely.

Just be aware when you wrap the manifold it will induce condensation between the wrap and the steel. It will rot the manifold. You may want to consider coating it with Zircotec or similar instead.

I temped at a place that palleted engines for Perkins. I used to do the custom jobs. Would get a tank or a yaught engine now and again. Its easy to knock up some timber for an engine. Bolt the block to the wood and you don't need much then.

Needs a proper dedicated professionally made handling crate made; sprayed bright orange with the logo on the side; would be great advertising even if the owner retained for future returns. Merely a pallet offers almost zero protection from any side or top impacts. A good crating system could pay dividends.

Great channel if you do not talk how do we get the information out of you. I had only one thought in the E30. Looking at the chassis work some of the race cars i have seen & worked on have tubes triangulated from the dash area. To the strut towers to take any flexing out of the front. Maby ask your chassis man his opinion.

I agree with Adam Knight. Maybe those who are complaining need to remember why you started this channel. It is about the business, right? So they think the only thing to operating the business is doing the machining? I, for one, like to see you investing in the site you are working in to improve the working environment. For those that don't understand - appearances DO matter. At some point the look of the shop is a reflection of the professionalism that you put into the work that you do.

Duno what you have to be sorry about. Its a channel about life at Barum Engines. Talk to much? they might mean they would like to actually watch you machining? Just very occasionally, I find you get excited and talk rather quickly, but 90% of the time I think you (and Isaac) present the programmes very well. Lads like Isaac are the future. Those that criticise the "heath Robinson" work holding, must have been very fortunate to have all the correct clamping jigs. Real engineers make use with whatever they have to hand. You should see how many of the Victorian and Edwardian engineers did things. Big bits of wood, even on lathes for steadys, but they made a good job of the machines they made. As long as its safe, and allows you to carry out the job accurately without damaging the workpiece, its dosn't matter. One thing I've always been curious about (sorry if you have explained it and I missed it) how come the name is pronounced Bearum and not as spelt Barum? is that a local dialect thing? (just try getting many of the Norfolk place names right 😉) Keep up the good work.

personally, I've seen what you are doing is not just an engine building channel, but also one that shows the ups and downs of running a business. for any business that doesn't 'update' their looks and brand is going to be a failing business. who wants to walk into a business that has a dishevelled and unkept look. no matter how good the work. what you see highly influences your immediate perception of a business. keep up the good work, and don't worry about the keyboard warrior as they, in all probability, have no idea of how to run a business.
