1:14 there are some good videos out there that refute the “eye dominance” method and rather emphasize the “vision center” method. I’m one of those people since I’m right handed and right eye dominant, but I learned to play left handed and my vision center is closer to my nose. Therefore when I get on shot line, I plant my back foot (left foot) just on the inside of the shot line, as in my foot is to the left of the shot line and right up against it

Great advice as always. What really peeked my attention was your right handed but left eye dominant. As am I. Do you have any advice on how you address this in your stance? What about taller players? Getting down and keeping my cue level is a battle somedays.

It’s difficult to say because we’re all so different. I end to have a little bit of a squarer stance than most but it’s so different for everyone!

If you're right handed and left eye dominant .An easy way to get that cue over your left eye is by using a more sideon stance and having your left foot turned inwards (right) which naturally pushes the cue to the left . You can do a simple experiment with this . Set up a straight shot and Hold your cue and point it towards the shot like you're going to shoot it . Step in with your left foot turned inwards and watch the cue naturally move to the left .

@@imranramjewan6470 i did this but problem is when i stroke my belly gets in the way of my grip hand. Frustrating since my vision center is on my left eye so my aim is more accurate with my left eye over the cue but my 39 inch belly gets in the way of my strong . So turn my stance more side on what happens now when I aim is my head needs to tilt more to the left which is uncomfortable on the neck. Frustrated I tried to switch and play left handed . Aiming is so much easier with the cue under my left eye when playing left handed but my stroke sucks. Weird I write left handed and play table tennis with my left but have to shoot basketball with my right hand and it seems billiards as well. IF only I can stoke the cue well with my left hand

After over a year and a half of trial and error trying to find why I wouldn't improve, overthinking pretty much every part of my game, and getting very frustrated... I started doing this recently and immediately went from being okay at pool to winning most of my matches. I used to think about 100 things before my shot making sure everything was perfect and over analyzing things and now I just lay my cue on the shot line step into it and shoot and I make 80% of the shots I take.

Nice video , but id like to ask I have gotten alot older and left eye dominant as well but a right handed player so it has drawbacks . You say your left eye dominant but it defiantly looks like your chin or nose is over the middle of the shotline , have you experimented to see what works better .

It’s not a strong dominance. Though, sometimes it is. When I get tired, my eye dominance shifts.

For me it was very interesting info. to find out you play right handed but are left eye dominate. I am left handed but play right handed. So, I paid particular attention to how you line up for the shot! Your left eye is in line with the shot and directly over the cue when you shoot. I'm an old fart (77) that played a lot when I was young (13-20 yrs old). I got married at 20 and hanging out at the pool halls gambling didn't work out for my home life so I quit and only played on occasion for 50 years. My wife died and I needed something to help occupy my mind so I bought a Meucci cue and started playing a little. My game went to pot and my main problem is getting my stroke back. It was coming back, then I had cataract surgery and now I'm having double vision on long shots. I see two object balls. The eye surgeon said, well, some old people get double vision. I said bull-shit I didn't get double vision until you replaces the lenses in my eyes. Enough of my problems. It's good to know someone else has the issue of dominate eye is opposite of shooting hand. I enjoy your tips!! Cheers.

I got married at 25 and my wife also didn’t love me out playing pool so I didn’t get much table time. And I quit for a year (twice) when my children were born. I didn’t really start putting in work until my late 30s when I had a table at home. As well, I have some vision issues. I’m left eye dominant but at times, it switches (without telling me). It’s been a challenge. I do my best to adjust when it happens.

I bought a Holeyball. It cramps the stroke bc a good pendulum needs to have the cue tip on the cloth at the end of the follow-through which this prevents; teaching the bad habit of poking in order to finish the stroke. That's the problem with a bottle or anything else that limits the vertical motion of the cue tip. Better would be stroking between a couple of balls or a couple of small boxes close together so a proper follow through can be done.

I put two cubes of chalk on each side of the shaft and stroke to the cueball aiming at the object ball. If i swerve addressing the cueball the chalk will fall and i get immediate feedback without hindering the natural shaft motion

I prefer standing back and stepping into the shot after centering on the shotline, but then I see someone like an Efren Reyes and others standing at the table and just getting down on the ball after our examining a shot. Personal preference or laziness?

@@DrawShotTV I guess the main thing is making sure you're seeing the shot, centered on the shot line and going with what works best for you (without practicing any bad habits).

Nice video . But remember the eyes is what puts the cue on the line not the feet. Lots of people see these type of videos and start focusing on their feet rather than what they need to see .Keeping that shotline in your vision center is important . Whereever your feet fall after you're down is the correct placement for that player .Every player position would be different .

The important part here is that this creates consistency in body alignment. The moving parts move the same way and allow consistency. The best players all do this.
