I started Keto in 2018 and lost 150lbs within 2 years. I went from 321lbs to 170lbs, and good thing I did because I needed Open Heart Surgery to replace my aortic valve in 2022. I had no clogged arteries. Isn’t that amazing.

Today is my 5 year anniversary of keto. Down 145 lbs and have maintained the same 8lbs for the whole time. Yes I add some different foods as long as it’s not processed crap. Just had my lipid panel done. Total was 155 with triglycerides at 32. Best I’ve felt in many many years. Also Today is five years sober. “Eat real food and keto on!!

When you look around, does it seem keto is more effective at getting large amounts of weight off and keeping it off? I don’t see any other diet that comes close! Especially for women over 50. So many comment on their age, 50+ weight losses and years of successful maintenance 🎉. Tremendous info and support is free right here. The foods needed are in all grocery stores. The Keto Twins are amazing and the only ones giving solid support for making keto a sustainable way of life. Bravo and a million thanks!

I’m about 8 years in, and I fell off the wagon this summer and gained about 20 pounds before I went back to keto. So I’ve learned that too many non keto “cheat days “ can derail me after all this time, so I won’t do that again. I have pretty well lost it again now, it’s been a few months. My body just does better sticking to keto

Started back up a couple of months ago and am struggling to see the scale move this time. I am seeing nonscale victories so that and getting back into my favorite Keto twin videos for support and ideas is keeping me going. I'll never goof up again like i did, it wasnt worth it.

I started Keto in 2021 at the recommendation of my Rheumatologist. I didn't need to lose a lot of weight. What I was really hoping for was to reduce my joint pain. That is where living a Keto lifestyle has been a HUGE benefit for me. It cut my joint pain in half. It also improved my energy level. Now that I am 2.5 years into this, I also do a more relaxed Keto. I started out very strict trying to get a handle on what could I eat and not eat. That worked for me in the beginning. For me, doing that was not sustainable. However, I learned a lot during that time that still influences my choices today. I don't count Macros anymore, but now I go by how my body feels.

You ladies are super. I agree that you must get to know your body and "listen" to what it is telling you. I hit plateaus several times while using 50 pounds. I let my body decide where to end up on the scale (which, coincidentally, is close to what I weighed most of my young adult life). I practice IF, and if I feel like it, eat a sweet keto friendly treat several times a week. I am 5'4" and weigh 110 pounds and have maintained it for close to 5 years. All you said is great advice for anyone along their keto journey.

Thank you, Sarah and Emily! I have enjoyed and benefited from your channel for years now and appreciate you both so very much! It's such a treat to see you grown and achieve more and more. Warmest wishes for the next five years and beyond: on to a million this year, wohoo! ❤ I will add for other KT peeps that after three years on keto, I can verify that pretty much everything you discuss here is absolutely right on. Plateauing, for example. I lost seventy pounds in the first year. Then it was just a slow slog, or no weight loss, for a long time. I have 40 lbs to go and have plateaued here for months. In my head I know that I just have to keep on keeping on, that slow and steady wins the race, but I do so miss the fireworks of those early days of easily measurable and VISIBLE progress! It's harder to hold that course when I'm feeling stuck. And anyway, it's not a race, it's a life path that is forever, so enjoy the journey! There is no THERE to get to, other than a goal weight or health matter along the way. You're never done, indeed. Hold your course! In spite of my feeling of 'stuckness', I also know that my overall health is improving "under the hood", with blood chemistry, kidney health, disgestive issues, skin clarity, and metabolic flexibility and more all improving and healing in ways I can't see on the surface but that I know are happening inside my body. So, bottom line, keep on keepin' on, and keep coming back to Keto Twins for support and inspiration! You got this! 🥰💪❤

I just love you two! I lost 50 pounds on keto and ended up having bariatric surgery. It fixed more than my weight so I’m extremely pleased. What I find most interesting is after having a nutritionist nagging me to add carbs back in, the actual post surgery/maintenance diet was more like keto than the traditional food pyramid. I struggled maintaining my weight loss until I went back to keto. Thank you, thank you for the LMNT and Hero reviews and links. Amazing products! I still can’t really eat a whole bun (after 5 years, lol) but they are delicious! I usually split my burger into two, one for lunch and one for dinner. 🙏 Best NSV is actually being comfortable doing yoga. Game changer with so much less weight on my body. AND, I took up kayaking at age 55. Yay 😀.

I think it will be a long time since the first 5 pounds took 2 Months. I am trying for .5ish lb a month. I think it’s more the energy and general well being I get from a diet change. Or should I say, life style change because it feels sustainable. I am still doing the basics and haven’t branched out to trying the recipes. I see it in my future when I need to mix it up! Thanks for the R and D.

After my third go-round losing 50+ pounds, I find it is easier nowadays to maintain due to product availability alone. Now it is relatively easy to find Keto bread and sugar substitutes bread being my downfall . Everything you advise is on point. I usually go through 3 plateaus occurring after 25 pounds, then the next 15 and then the last 10. I usually get through with 16 hr fasting every 2 days, then the next plateaus with 10k steps a day. Last thing I learned was to not go below 1000 cal per day. If you do, you lose too much muscle and then losing fat becomes harder. So I would never recommend going that low in calorie count. Love your channel.

I've been doing keto for a year and one thing that I've noticed is better dental health. I used to get these nasty tonsil stones that would make my breath smell really bad. I guess that's due to impaction of carb-rich stuff getting stuck in my tonsils over time because when I went keto, the tonsil stones went away. I had quite a bit of carbs over the holidays and noticed that the tonsil stones started coming back a little, so I have since reigned myself back in! I used to get cavities pretty regularly, as well as tooth aches. Now, I don't have any new cavities and NO toothaches all year!

Cautionary tale: I didn't realize that when you lose weight you actually lose about 1/4 of it in bone and muscle. After going keto and intermittent fasting I went into the osteoporosis territory. Now, I stopped intermittent fasting as much but put back half the weight I lost, and even though I'm still keto it's still creeps back on. I just hope I'm building back muscle and bone!

Can be a little more lenient with the carbs if you add some exercise. Great for plateaus too. And strength training will make the results unreal. I’m very frustrated that I did keto very diligently but lost 9 pounds in 4 months and nothing for another 5. I did this round another 9 months with the same pattern (after a year pause in which I gained it back). The sugar cravings I was fighting never went away, I had no energy and ended with SIBO symptoms the 2 times. Oh well. Not for me. But I’m happy to see it works for most people. I still watch your videos somehow still intrigued at how effective this way of eating makes you look fabulous! And the recipes are amazing!

This was a fabulous video! Relevant and timely, as well. I lost 70 lbs on Keto and I have to admit it was pretty easy for me. Now the keeping it off part is harder, definitely. I personally think it's expensive eating this way and hubby is a saver, he was thrilled when I was 'done losing weight' but yeah, now I'm up 15 lbs. Can't do it, I do not want to keep gaining. In fact, yesterday I was back on it, big time. I'll absolutely stay on some form of Keto in the future, which means 'technically Keto'!! I'm a 'Lifer' for your videos, ladies! Keep 'em coming!!

Thank you both for these 5 tips, I really found them helpful. I had never heard of the notion that each pound is move valuable as I get closer to my goal. I’m just two small pounds away from my goal of 135lbs. I’m 71 years old and fairly short, so this is my reasonable goal now. No longer do I think I need to be the weight I was at age 25. You two are responsible for much of my success. Thank you for all your videos and advice.

Keto for 3 years. Lost 70 lbs and reverse T2D and stage 1 fatty liver disease. My biggest lesson learned is to prioritize protein. Get 1 g protein for 1 lb ideal body weight. I weigh 130 lbs so I eat 120-140 g protein a day. That’s something I had to build up to but it is reserving my muscle mass easy. You don’t want to lose 70 lbs and end up being fatter bc you lose a greater percent of muscle than fat. Keeping muscle keeps you healthier not just weight loss. And I don’t eat less calories than I did when I was 200 lbs. I eat almost the same 1800-2000 calories a day bc I kept the muscle.

@@mellocello187 Yes. My enzymes came back into acceptable range and doctor said he’s no longer worried about my liver. All my blood work indicators have been perfect for 2.5 years except LDL. That’s always been high and I refuse to take statins bc of side effects. So I’m just not going to be perfect. Imagine that 😂

@@sternitsSame situation for me, including the reversal of T2D and fatty liver. LDL always high (triglycerides are the one to worry about and mine are great) but I've refused the statins too for years. Turns out there's a lot of keto & carnivore doctors (can't look them up right now but on YT) and research to suggest that high LDL isn't a problem and that those of us with higher LDL live longer, lol! My great grandma lived to just a few months short of 100. I no longer worry about LDL.

Love what you said especially number 4. My son does keto but he has most types of fruit and some wheat products. I do keto and I can't eat most wheat products. I work better on dairy than others. I also dont track anything which has freaked some people out haha. I love watching you both make recipes even if I can't eat them from any wheat because it is getting me to think about food differently. So I can start to look at foods before keto and try to figure out how to make it keto. I find you both very encouraging and love your straightforwardness.

Hi preciouses! New subscriber here and I’m so glad I found d you. Low carb/no carb high fat is the only thing my body listens to for weight loss and I got back on it 3 days ago. I’ve had pinched nerve in my facet joint (back) for 3 yrs now and thank goodness I only need to go into the office once a eeek for 3 1/2 yrs. I’ve got a closet FULL of size 10 & 12 cloth g for years and am bound and determined to get back into them. Especially since I’m now in a tight size 16. Yikes. I’m also visually impaired (retinitis pigmentosa) and recently quit driving. 😕 can’t drive, can’t walk a block due to back pain = becoming FAT and dare I say sheltered and super depressed. I’m a happy person so how can that be? Ah well, I’ll be even happier with this extra weight off. Will be watching and liking your videos along my journey. 😘😘 I came across your cottage cheese chips with seasonings video and am always looking for things to snaz things up. Again

I get being super strict for health reasons and i will support anyone that needs to do so. I wanted to lose weight because I am short and 160 lbs didnt look good on me. I was strict with myself at first but have relaxed because losing the last 10 lbs would be great if it happens but not something to stress over. I feel sooo much better than I did and can chase after the grands without feeling like i need oxygen. I cheated quit a bit between Christmas and New Years, but only gained a couple of pounds that I've been able to lose already. Do the diet that works for you. If, along the way, you discover foods that don't agree with you, rid those from your life (and possibly family or friends who don't respect your food boundaries).

Hi girls. Great video. You have the best perspective and I appreciate you both so much. In order for me to sustain this lifestyle there are certain things I have to do. For example I will toast keto bread so it doesn’t taste too chewy. That way I can have the occasional sandwich. I don’t like some of the ingredients but I say so what! What I was eating before was so much worse. And I haven’t found a chaffle that I really like. And I like to have a smoothie with kale, kefir, and some frozen blueberries. This is when I’m on the health kick, lol. It also helps keep my eczema under control. Life IS too short. I can’t find a keto breading that I can tolerate. So when I’m making our family’s meatballs I use regular breadcrumbs! It’s not like I’m going to eat them all. This way I not only honor my family tradition but I also enjoy it. And I watch it for the next few days and it all balances out. And I still lose weight. Every one of us is unique and needs to find our own path. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. I really value you both.💗💗
