Showing a dumb solution without any explanation + give it an even more stupid title. YT in 2023. Anyone, who DOES REALLY understand, what is happening in this video, is also able to de-solder the defect LED and replace it by a new one or some diode with similar specs of a resistor, matching the voltage loss in the circuit. But solving the issue by mixing some obscure combination of - I suppose - baking powder and graphite, which will give an unknown resistance + harden it with CA, which might burn and ignite the whole plastic bulb/shell ... that's a no-go!!!!!

  • Жыл бұрын

Exactly. I wouldn't click on the video, but I was curious, what people say in the comments... To my disappointment many people think this is a good solution. It's really not. He's also playing around live mains voltage and doesn't give any warning in the video! :/

The remaining LEDs will overvolt slightly buf if they have a large tolerance range they will be fine. The amperage remains the same so there is no fire risk from overheating but as some have said on here a small resistor is a more elegant way of doing it. I would just blob the the open trace with solder and be damned with a fast and dirty fix as it is not worth any more time and attention than this. The bulb was cheap trash anyway so a blob of solder and squirt of glue is all its worth and time spent on it remains killed.

Another one mentioned this. No it would cause the LED's to be brighter till another one burned out. LED's do not like running at higher voltages than they are rated for. These are about 3v and if you remove one and put a bridge where it was you alter the voltage to be above the rating. Most of these bulbs have LED's in series. this one has 15 so 15x3 = 45. Lets assume they are all in series as some are in parallel pairs of series too. But for this example assume they are all end to end connection. If you remove one and short it then you are causing 14 leds to share the same voltage that 15 use. so you get an extra 3 volts. so 14 leds now should be powered by 42v not 45v and as a result they will draw more current and get hot. Hotter than they are supposed to and the weakest one will burn out.

Depending on the flexible circuit board. if its one of those ones that cannot be heated or it curls up then you need to get the special tape. It only lets current flow one way and they use it for flex cable on Phones etc.. (mostly the LCD glass) google - Anisotropic Conductive Film (ACF) or tape

solder don't stick well, it requires the right flux to treat the surface & high heat to overcome the heatsink, it is only easy when you already had those tool around.

I admire one such inventor for his creativity and ingenuity. His inventions have revolutionized so many areas of our lives, from the way we communicate to the way we perform medical treatments. It's hard to imagine how different our lives would be without this inventor's inventions. He is truly an inspiration, someone who has positively influenced the world in such a significant way. His incredible contributions to society have shown what is possible when one works hard and uses their imagination. I am grateful for his work and for showing us how far-reaching the impacts of inventions can be. His work will forever be a part of human history, and I am proud that there are inventors out there who can change the world.
