What first steps does it take to get proficient at the upright bass? I have played standard electric bass guitar for over a decade and want to make a beginning with the upright bass.

@@aaronfinkler8787 hey. Thanks for your question. It’s not an easy answer. You need guidance do the technical part first. Then your playing should be assessed to see if there are harmonic and rhythmical issues to fix. I’m helping a lot of bassists with my Personal Studio Membership. @@vidlukanarea6280 perhaps buy a yamaha EUB. Chris Min Dokie says that his yamaha EUB sounds better than any miked acoustic upright

To get a good sound mic doesn’t matter! I’m recording my bass with a $100 mic. Your acoustic sound has to be good! Strings has to be high enough to vibrate. The bridge and sound post they have to be placed properly to balance all the 4 strings. The sound is in your fingers and in your bass. Forget mics! Seriously. Your track will end up on an mp3 anyway…
