My Grandma was born in 1892, and as a young child I remember us spending many happy hours on trams, walking through the Haymarket and catching the train to little sea side destinations; Wonderful Memories.
I Love looking at the Old Photos of Sheffield and have collected a number of books over the years which i Treasure. My Late Husband had a great Interest in the History of Sheffield. I have kept the books that He Had especially those depicting The Sheffield Flood.
I used to enjoy playing with the buttons of the big map of Sheffield coming out of Pond Street bus station as a very young nipper :-)
Absolutely addictive 👍🤭

Thanks David 👍
I'd completely forgotten about the big map with the lights on it. As a kid we would get off the 42 bus just up the road there and walk past it to catch the old 28 to Herdings to visit my aunt's most Saturdays. My mum telling me off for playing with the buttons, trying to light up as many as possible at the same time! A little further down just before you went into Pond Street bus station proper, was the round news agents shop with the chocolate vending machines on the wall. Also remember the big cafe on one of the platforms with big bench seats with tables you could sit about 10 people at lol!
Brilliant photos lovely to she Sheffield. in bygone days. my childhood in 1960,s.playing football in the street or any waste ground.in Walkley, I look back and think about the great times we had. thank you very much keep em coming.
I cannot say that Sheffield has improved over the last 80 years or so, but I loved it then and now.
Thank you so much , I did recognise the young lass in the peace gardens , I’m sure we went to the same school , she was lovely, brought back happy memories, thank you without you these beautiful pictures would be lost, 😊

@0:48 Commonside, Crookesmoor. Behind the man and women is, one of my old watering holes, the Springvale Hotel, 1 Commonside. Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Wouldn't like to fall over trying to get into Ford Anglia on Greenhow St..
My maternal grandparents lived in Glencoe Road. During the Blitz a German land mine seriously damaged their house. It also made a huge crater in the back garden. King George and Queen Elizabeth were in Sheffield and paid a visit. Somewhere we have a photograph of them surveying the damage, the Queen elegant amongst the debris.
Another excellent presentation, many thanks for posting. Oh and I have to admit that I did play with the buttons on the map at Pond Street.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together, I loved every second.

Not a imagrant in sight
The number plate on the anglia is now on a range rover evoque. Shame the 105 isn't around anymore.
