You're stories are worth gold and I'm glad you're keeping it safe for our South African nation. Please consider covering the story of the treasure of President Paul Kruger in the Blyde River

Thanks for your comment. Yes, the Kruger treasure stories are fascinating. There are so many that if they were all true, I guess we would all be millionaires! 😅 I will try to put together an episode next year.

My Great-grandmother worked as Paul Kruger Cook in Pretoria... My Granny who raised me told me how Great-granny cooked a "suckling pig' with an apple in its mouth for some event.. My granny was a teenager at the time...
Always interesting content. Thank you for your work sir. Have a fantastic week.

I've Also heard about a large stash of Gold burried somewhere between Vanderbijlpark and Parys? On a farm that used to be called Kaalplaas? It's rumoured that the Boers burried it as they retreated North Away from the advancing British? Today there are just a few plots in the area. Those people could be living almost on top of the greatest treasure that has not been found in Southern Africa??

@@JustOfftheHighway I heard the story recently? From a partner of someone in my family. He got this information from a family member of the previous owner of the farm? My gut feeling tells me it was gold braught from Bloemfontein during the Boer retreat? It must have been slowing the Boers Down too much? So they burried it?
@charlesknowles6301

@@JustOfftheHighway the Boers had plenty plenty gold for obvious reasons. I believe that there must be at least a dozen sites where gold has been burried and remained undiscovered? Especially in the old Transvaal and modern day Gauteng? The Kruger millions? Im a believer in that legend? There is no way Paul Kruger and his traveling party could have transported all his gold bullion from Krugersdorp to the Mozambican coast? No way! If I had the manpower, money, equipment and time. I would start to look about 3-4 km east of Krugersdorp central. (Not sure if it would be a residential area? Or open veld?). I would send up drones with hi tech cameras. Look for anything out of the ordinary? Stones and rocks? And markers? Crosses? Arrows? Circles? Anything. That is were I would start to look. Anybody who finds the Kruger millions? It's the same as hitting the Powerball!!!

Thanks Rod! Can't wait to get to CT so you can join me on an episode.
You're such a great story teller. Part of me was watching this and thinking how much fun Josh Gates from Expedition Unknown would have with a story like this but then I remember how they messed up the Krugerand story by trying to be politically correct. And then I realized they don't need to do anything. You already told the story perfectly! That being said, and with Expedition Unknown in mind, I wonder if GPR or Lidar has been attempted on the grounds before. As always, thanks for telling the tale.

Hi! Thanks for your kind comment. It's a huge compliment to mention Just off the Highway in the same breath as those massive multi-national productions. My story dated from the 1950's (I think) so I have no idea if new technology has been used. It would open up fascinating possibilities!
This is a lovely story. Thanks. I grew up in Witpoortjie, but have never heard either stories

Mr Prodgers, do you know how upset you will be if those tarentaal scallywags following you so closely actually found that gold? 😯 I am pretty sure I saw that shady one on the left taking notes... As always, thank you for brightening up a rainy day. 🙏

That's fascinating. I never knew it existed. Please feel free to mail me on info@alprodgers.co.za if you'd like to share some of the information for an episode.
There may or may not be buried gold but forty years ago my brother went into the river there messing around with his friends around the waterfall and up and down for two hours wearing his Stainless Steel Rolex Oyster Datejust Chronometer and didn't come out with it as the shoddy cheap and nasty Rolex strap broke. As it's a Rolex if anyone finds it if it hasn't already been found it will still work 😀

Hi Amberjoy, thanks for asking and for your support. I would LOVE to do more regular episodes, but unfortunately, they cost lots to make and have no corporate sponsorship, so I have to fit them in between other paying work. There is a new episode in production which I plan to post before the end of October. Please share episodes that you enjoy with your network so that I can increase views and subscriptions (and eventually earn some revenue 😜). Cheers, Al
A fairly tale
I believe some treasure was buried at Hectorspruit. I had a copy of one of Ben Viljoen's men's war diary, (Rootman) which was scribbled on scraps of paper, and later published in book form. Unfortunately I lent the book to an uncle, who, without my knowing, was in the early stages of dementia. I never got the book back, I believe his wife got rid of it with his other books after he fell ill. Rootman wrote: "by Hectorspruit het ons goed begrawe wat die nageslag seker eendag sal opgrawe". Think of it, they would not have buried food or supplies or clothes, but possibly some archived documents? It would not have been difficult to put some of Kruger's gold among that. There are however, a few curious unexplained aspects regarding genl Ben Viljoen that bothers me. After the war the other Boer Generals shunned him and would not be associated with him. He ended up in America where he allegedly became an advisor of the then president Ted Roosevelt. To end up in those circles he would have needed lots of money, so it is quite possible he secretly dug the stuff up, he would certainly have been the one person that had a good idea where it was buried and what it contained. Another published diary by Schickerling described a similar happening of something buried at Hectorspruit, but I do not remember the exact words. Both those men were with Ben Viljoen's commando who escorted Pres Krugers train to the Moçambique border. Logic tells me they would not have allowed a national treasure to be taken across border.
