the fairness of it is irrelevant, they should be removed simply for the fact that their first action in the country was a crime. you should not be accepted in to a country that you do not respect the laws of.

The opposite of sotamayor's argument is, if you can't issue a removal order for not showing up, then the immigrant can just avoid all orders to appear, until "captured" and then it starts all over, they would issue another notice to appear for a hearing, and it could be ignored again until the next "capture" and then again, again, and again.

So the taxes of actual citizens are paying for free shelter, clothing, phone, food, medical, and now free repeated legal counsel and new court dates over, and over, and over, without end, every time the illegal finds another loop whole in a document in order to just keep staying in our country. It's like we the true citizens have acquired 1,000s of grown children we're responsible for supporting, only we were never asked if we wanted these foreign grown children. We were also never asked if we wanted to give up our Republic for an entirely Socialist form of government and culture.😔🙏🏽📖 🇺🇸

Fascinating! I’ve never sat through a SCOTUS hearing before. I should do this more often. I always knew there were problems with the immigration system, but I didn’t know it was as complicated as it is. It definitely sounds like the NTAs need reformation. I wonder if they couldn’t make it so the non citizen has to sign for any such documents, thereby proving receipt, but also proving current address? I see why the justices are asking the questions they ask. The system is so convoluted, and needs to be simplified.

Thank you for that clarification, and somehow it all seems to be to ambiguous and questionable, especially since just the fact that these people are trying to get their lives together and not giving rthem a definite time to appear just does not seem like there is any kind of target for them or for authorities to define a line for them to adhere to. It is no wonder that people generally do not apear because the system is definitely flawed.

A change is a change. I use the VA for medical and sometimes I'm told I'll have a future appointment. They call me or send me a letter telling me when the appointment is so that is a change to the original notice. I guess using her argument if I don't go to the appointment, I can argue that since they didn't give me the time and date at the beginning, they can't hold the missed appointment against me.

Usually take a few years before they get a hearing, it’s up to the immigrant to notify immigration of a change of address! The hearing is a review of why the immigrant is in the US! If they are requesting asylum, they must prove their case, if they don’t apoear the judge can issue NTD notice to deport, the can appeal that , but legal cost will not be paid by government! I’m assuming they have a time limit to appeal it.

Because they moved through Mexico. Which means it wasn't about asylum, but getting into the US. You must apply for asylum at the first safe port. This all bull. We all know it. Some hundreds of thousands flew from Africa to Ecuador, then made their way through several safe ports. All have spent lots of money to do it. Costra Rica is a safe port, as is Panama and Mexico. These FOREIGNERS do not belong here. Even the Chinese coming here from the dictatorship, violated the Asylum agreement.

If you can’t prove noticed to arrive in country you don’t need official notification to be deported. The undocumented persons should bare the burden of providing documentation of entry approval otherwise to respect of deportation and a national emergency. One notice it sent to last address on file this is documented suffice and works the same as posted notices of a hearing on matters of court hearing dates should and does suffice, they know they are residing illegally and should bare the burden seeking any court hearing hanging over their heads and should constitute a matter of law, like looking over your shoulder baring the burden being caught and hauled out of the country. A passport would and could clarify any rights deferring deportation. This is convoluted mayhem and stalling tricks to keep this mayhem continued. They have no problems of no notice of hearing property served when its child support or divorce until it’s contested and then it usually happens after the facts of a absentee hearing, they can’t unring the bell concerning arrears and children moving out of the country without the parent consent. It just seems for you. I read your comment later, but I made some marks. He named justices after he jumped answering from one to another one. For example, at 18.30 he jumped from Gorsuch to Sotomayor. He called her justice Sotomayor. After he called her Your Honor. At 22.06 he started to reply to justice Kagan and he called her justice Kagan. After Berrett was talking and he called her Your Honor. In general he called justices by their names in the beginning much more. At 27.30 Alito started to ask questions and the lawyer didn’t even said You Honor to him. At 28.25 Kagan started to speak, he called her Justice Kagan. After Gorsuch again and the lawyer just said Your Honor. Justice Jackson started to speak at 41.20, she asked the question and he started his answer with calling her Justice Jackson. ETC. So… no… there is no hidden agenda
