I don't know bro, a C-. I just feel this hire leaves a lot to be desired. But, I'm wishing him the best. Edit: Just watched the P-Train interview w/ Tyler Rowland on Shane Bowen. I'm a little more optimistic, especially schematically and having to deal w/ injuries; he's a B.

Hopefully Shane Bowen can be one of those blue collar, under the radar hiring. I like that he's a teacher, he's good against the run, focused on the pass rush & redzone defense. But I feel like if this is the route the Giants are stuck with, maybe hired internally? Idk, but I want Bowen to be successful. Edit: Just watched the P-Train interview w/ Tyler Rowland on Shane Bowen. I'm a little more optimistic about this hire. I think Bowen can potentially be a good DC for the Giants. I agree with opinions out there; I think Jerome Henderson & Andre Patterson should be retained (Henderson should become the defensive pass game coordinator). Giants also should try to get an edge, another corner, a safety (maybe franchise X?) ... and maybe bring back Isaiah Simmons, if possible. Not as bad as I thought.

Giants don't need anymore post-Buffalo staff or players.

I give a B- ...look it isn't the guy the giants wanted. They have had so many disappointing chances of trying at talent at the coaching level and somehow they seem to miss more than they hit. But this guy can possibly give some good points to mentoring this young group of guys on defense. The only negative selling point is he isn't really good on pass defense so he will have to adjust and learn the system and work with what he has at his disposal. But if he can improve that Run Defense that's a good positive he can add to this Defense and somehow scheme those nickle and man coverage schemes to the defenses strengths.

Ask me after the season. lol Seriously you’re right. Hope he’s a great DC but clearly he wasn’t their top choice. But maybe, considering the choices they’ve made, might be a ( lucky) good hiring.

One thing people keep forgetting is that not everyone wants to come to the New York area. There is tremendous amount of pressure playing in this area that not everyone can handle, although it is like that in other areas as well. There is also a business side of it. The cost of living in this area is a lot higher as is the tax burden and you can literally save tens of thousands of dollars coaching somewhere else. What used to offset that was the marketing opportunities but the population in this area has been shrinking and migrating to other states which are now becoming more attractive.

I am ok with a couple of losing seasons if it means this team is getting rebuilt into a playoff regular. I would rather not go through another half-assed, patchwork rebuild and watch the Giants troll through the wilderness of making the playoffs once every ten years.

Giants are no longer an elite destination for coaches. Between the terrible record over the last decade and dabolls rep as toxic HC, we shouldn’t expect top tier talent anymore.

No QB. Build a quality line on both sides. Any QB is worthless unless there's a decent line to protect and give passing time for route development. Plain and simple. What great QB now or in the past would survive with the crappy line they had this year.

I give this a B+ hire depending on how the defense looks this year this could very well be a A even A+ if we see a nfc championship in the next two year even a Super Bowl I love this hire a lot personally due to him coming from a titans team led by good ole Mike who is one of the best defensive minds in the league some who really shut down and beat a lot of good teams with great offenses and this man has learn from the best and has potential to run a defense that can stop any team at any time at any place I’m absolutely rooting for this to be great I think we have another spags in the making on our hands

Am not mad about this one Titans had a solid D, the internal drama is a Media thing something to stir the pot with.. at the end of the day you work with what you got. If I remember correctly Coughlin's Job was on the line too, there was also a QB that everyone said was washed. That year We took out Tommy boy. Our job is to pull for the guys we got. Of course that's just my opinion.

No coach in their right mind wants any part of this team. Mara will meddle Schoen and Dabes right out of the building, and this team will be among the worst in the NFL for decades to come. And then no GM or HC will want to come here. THANKS, Mara!! Keep meddling and PLEASE keep your brother as Director of Pro Personnel!!

Parcells was a nobody and a charity hire when he was first made the HC from the DC. He was known as a players coach his first season and he only won three games. The next season he took on the persona of being a ball buster and started to win. He attributed this to his change in personality. I am not so sure. I believe that the Giants defense and offense started to mature.

The defense had 2 terrible games against Dallas and the game against Miami. Otherwise, it gave us a chance to win the rest of our games. The defense led the league in takeaways, but Daboll’s and Kafka’s offense was just too inept to take advantage of that.

Grade C. Mara has destroyed the rep Wellington built.

Please tell me we're not going to do that coaching carousel thing............AGAIN?!!! Daboll's got to be the guy for at least the next couple of years! It's apparent he doesn't play well with other children, but Tom Coughlin was able to remake himself! And this is Daboll's first foray into the world of head coaching! Look at Bellichik, he crashed and burned in Cleveland! I don't want to see Daboll make it somewhere else after wasting all this valuable time as a Giant! Same goes for Schoen! Just for the record I'm Andy, Annmarie's husband and I'm responsible for the content of this post not her.

He's awful, has no resume, for the little time spent in the NFL most everyone hates him, he attracts no one to the team, he's proved he has no direction. . . oh and he loses. I think some of the things your mentioning also have more poeple involved but hes just the face so its easy to point all the blame at him.

If Joe and Brian get fired after year 3 I'll be done watching the giants and that will solidarity us as the worst franchise in the league

Could actually be way worse. Wink’s defense led the league in takeaways. That probably doesn’t happen again under Bowen. Had Daboll and Kafka’s offense not been so putrid, they would have won 10 or 11 games this past season.

Either poor personnel or poor ability to train them up. No way they'd win that many games with the defense they had or crappy OLine

@@TheRagjrTakeaways are very important. The team that wins the turnover battle usually wins the game. Unless the team’s offense is coached by Daboll and Kafka. Wink did not have a ton of talent to work with. No coach could have turned this group of players into a shut-down defense. Wink’s defensive schemes kept them in games. Looking back at each game, 11 wins might have been a stretch, but 9 or 10 were there for the taking. Particularly the games against Buffalo (defense allowed 14 points), Seattle (defense allowed 17 points), and the Jets (allowed 10 points in regulation, 13 total).

@NYGiantsTV I understand Marshall. I am passsionate as well, and sometimes I get upset. From listening, it appears you have blamed Dabol for causing dysfunction between the coaches. I am not saying he does not need to work on some things. The cancer is gone. Wink had a rough ending with management while with the Ravens. He was an absolute child with the Giants. He didn't like the way the brothers were treated. When Glazer reported his story, I bet you Wink was his source (or the baby brothers). Everyone, including you, said Glazer is reliable on these things, and if he said it must be Dabol's fault. It really was not great undercover work by Glazer cause Wink gave him a batting practice fastball. Wink is the source of most of the problems. Look how he left. I am glad he is gone. But you bought into his childish behavior and since then blamed Dabol for everything. Now, they hired a DC that was not your favorite. No one in management lied about it. They took their time, and the man they wanted went somewhere else, and most are of the opinion it is the Giant behind the scene issues headed by the cancer Wink. Has Dabol made some bad on and off the field decisions? Yes, he has, no question about it. You just decided to blame Dabol and Scheon for everything, which put fuel on a fire trying to be controlled. And stop it with Jones. We know the situation very well. It has turned out poorly for the Giants. However, over and over and over again, we hear how you don't think much of Jones. It is enough. Move on to ways that are positive. Resign Taylor and let him compete for the starting job. We don't even know if Jones will be ready to start the season. The injury came past the mid point of the season, and he won't even be a year removed when the season starts. By the way, I don't think he was fully recovered from his neck injury when he returned. We need to be critical of Dabols decision to even play him against the Radiers, to be honest. After the first 2 QB's, nobody is good enough to be drafted by pick 6. Build the team with a WR. and OL in either order. There are plenty of WR (14 or so) that are high quality. If a Qb the Giants like is around in round 3, then that might be a good time. Edge rusher is needed as well. By the way, I am sticking around. I appreciate the response to my angered comment, my friend. In addition, I subscribed to your Knick channel as well. So I will be there with my honest comments. I can take it cause I have to defend Cashman as well.lol
