    Fruit loops or whatever seems to be about 1/3 of added sugar, not whole but quit alot. Maybe look at the label you dont need to ask someone who does not know anything about the product. Those food colors can be wierd though. But you can find toxic colors in clothes, hair dyes, which prob.should be banned and studied more. Maybe do episode with color chemist expert or something.

    It is depressing when you know what a fruit or veggie should taste like, and then you go grab some non organic stuff and it has like no flavor. It tastes like a fake version of what it should be in nature. We are pretty dumb to screw that up by taking it away through growing methods that will cause that. I wouldn't think it's a good idea to sell fruit that looks normal but tastes like butt, but here we are.

    Definitely avoid HFCS and artificial sweeteners too, they are worse than sugar because your body doesn't really know what to do with them. Problem: You have to itemize just what processes you're talking about, EACH AND EVERY ONE. Cooking? That's a process. Adding spices? The fruitloops as "starting your day off with candy" thing is something that seems extremely common place in America. Donuts, waffles, pancakes, etc. are all desserts that people eat in the morning instead of normal breakfast foods. I am at least a little sympathetic towards cereal because there are healthier cereal options and the addition of milk will at least boost the meal's relative health profile compared to these aforementioned options.

    The whole CGI backdrop thing is incredible but feels a bit disconnected to whats being discussed. It feels unnecessary and bit too much. Also, most people aren't even watching, they're just listening. If you want to improve the production value and visual interest, it needs to be relevant to the discussion. The scale of the background made the conversation seem small and unimportant.

    Ate some processed foods yesterday out of convenience when for the previous while it had been mostly just meat and eggs from the farm with rice and beans Spartan style one cup of rice cooked with the other ingredients once a day in the same pot... But after yesterday's processed foods my body feels hungover today when I haven't had a drink for over a year. Here is a tip for poor folks like myself though, if you're going to eat bread, don't buy the stuff on the shelves in Walmart, but the 'French loafs' the fresh bread they make daily because they don't put the same level of 'shelf stabilizing chemicals' as the average loaf prepared to sit in plastic on an American shelf for weeks. I'll buy those, stick them in the freezer and if I'm having bread coat cut it open and put olive oil, salt, and pepper on it in the air fryer until toasty... and those loafs are the cheapest too!

    I constantly ask my wife to stop buying junk food, sugar cereals, etc. When she does bring these things home, and I eat the entire box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in a few days' time, she's surprised somehow. Of course I *want* to eat that sweet junk food, it's delicious! That's why I ask her to refrain from purchasing it in the first place. If there are no chips, I'll eat a banana. If there aren't frozen burritos, I'll make a sandwich. I'm inherently lazy and I will go for the convenient crap in the house (aren't we all, to various degrees?) but I'm not unwilling to cook and prep my own food, especially if there are no easier options.

    Candy in the morning isn't necessarily so bad. First half marathon I did sub 1h30min started around noon, legs were like wings thanks to a huge slice of cinnamon apple cake for breakfast. That's just pure fuel for a runner. However, as a TRUE masculine man I make those cakes myself, rather than thinking "baking is a women's thing". Apples were picked from the garden, never saw weird chemicals. As for processed foods, think about supplements for workouts. Like protein powder. That stuff is just as nasty as any frozen pizza or Kelloggs product. Still the "healthy" guys keep chugging their shakes... (that said, I'm sure there are some options that are worse than others but if you are so in need of protein - at least eat it as proper food and not powder)

    Dude, candy in the morning is inherently bad… I mean, you’re literally giving the most extreme example of running 13 miles😂 How many people do you truly think are doing this in the morning after their frootloops?

  • @knooters

    @knooters

    21 күн бұрын

    @@Berticus92 Sure, the example is not an everyday thing, but I'm not the only one that works out in the morning or burns alot of calories during the day - that's not very unusual. That said, I don't really do fruit loops or any of the other sugar coated cereals unless it's "for fun" once every few months. There are more cost effective, better tasting AND healthier options out there. Like a bowl of muesli and milk. Or, even oatmeal and milk if you want it cheaper. My go-to breakfast (or evening meal) if I want healthy energy is 1-2 ripe bananas cut to smaller pieces, and a handful or two worth of raisins in a bowl - fill it up with muesli or oatmeal, add some jam (I use my home made jars), and fill to the rim with milk. You can't beat that, really. And, it's veggie friendly! :) My point was just that there are times when sugar has it's place, and also (between the lines) that people with a sweet tooth (like me!) should consider running more if they want to get fit, as the food you want to eat becomes more useful then.

    Just about every “treat” or “Cheat” That I enjoy : they could take the sugar and cut it down to only 25% of what’s in it, and it would be fine. If you’ve ever made a desert And gone by the recipe , you’ll notice how much sugar is gong into it . ITS WAY TOO MUCH SUGAR… So this is on purpose. Not a conspiracy, There is simply way too much money made from diabetes etc. I don’t get why companies, For example : Doritos chips. Add some whey protein to them and some fiber and they’d still be good… I never understand why so much sugar is used , bc it doesn’t need so much to be good….. But when you see that diabetes and heart disease is big business , You start seeing a connection. I would pay more for stuff that was “Modified “ in a positive way …. But they won’t do that bc , wow , everyone has diabetes and that’s huge business. Everything is WAY TOO SWEET.

    I’m going to guess…if you are fit, exercise a decent amount, it actually could be good to eat that processed ‘crap’ as needed. If you are that diabetic inactive person that can’t even run a couple of miles, then it’s poison. Stop blaming the food people, just do things with moderation…Don’t need to run 100 miles a week, but you don’t just walk a mile a week to be healthy. Be fit, strong and eat reasonably.
