I think what stops death from being a totally cringe edgelord is the like, way he communicates He can be blunt with his words, but at the same time he is so wierdly sassy, with a dark sense of humor to boot. Other edgy characters are either like, murderhobos or stone walls or both Death is written so human Yeah he's edgy, but he can be humorous when he's in a....less bad...mood I don't think he was ever really in a good mood and I don't blame him, id be moody if I kept ending up in places I don't really want to be meeting old faces I didn't want to meet that send me to do things they're too lazy to do. Screw the second world, why did _I_ have to grab those stupid judges? Keep em on a tighter leash, idiot

It will forever be a CRIME this game and it's entire series didn't get their proper flowers.

What works so well for Death’s character is that he’s unapologetically blunt. If you ever heard the saying “Life is a beautiful lie, and Death is an ugly truth,” it fits perfectly.

I remember the first time I played this game and Death entered the Crowfather hall. I thought, if they screw his voice, I am uninstalling this and don't wanna see it. And when he spoke it couldn't be a better voice for him! His character is so well made that it's almost real!

I love this interpretation of Death. Dry, snarky, and ruthless. Yet, despite his demeanor and purpose, he's probably the Horseman with the most humanity to him. Portraying Death as an wandering ronin-like character is such a great choice. And making it clear that he values life more than anything really adds to his narrative function. Also, the first two Dark Souls give off a great Guiermo del Torro vibe similar to the Hellboy films. Such a shame the series never got its due.

Like, this is the Maker's greatest and most powerful creation in a very long time, and is Death angry because it's being brought back to life mere seconds after he destroyed it? Or maybe he's worried about the potential destruction this thing could bring upon this land? Nope, he's just... mildly annoyed. It's like he's saying: "Oh come on,man! I JUST cleaned this mess up. Can we keep this shit fixed for one fucking moment?" 😂

I love how unapologetically DONE with everyone's shit they made death. Fits him perfectly, ngl.

Death, while being the most feared being in all of creation, strongest among the horsemen and their leader, having an harsh tongue, is still the most helpful and heartful knight

I always thought a crowfather round two fight would be awesome. He very clearly tricked death into killing him, which leads me to believe he was holding back.

I don't think he tricked him; I think he was just completely out of his mind due to the Amulet. He certainly didn't look to me like he wanted to die before Death impaled him. Of course if he had been using magic instead of trying to out-fight Death, the battle would likely have been significantly longer.

What can I say about this character? Literally I have no words but for sure I am in love ❤ with DEATH. I have played many games but I never found myself such excited as I was while playing with this HORSEMAN. At times he is calm as well as Savage too. Wanna play more with DEATH in upcoming DARKSIDERS series. Please make it happen.

The horseman of death is the personification of Death in the bible (Even if this Death is a nephilim is still the horseman). There is no Grim Reaper in the bible, that's an ambiguous entinty that takes inspiration from Thanatos the greek god of death and Mictlacihuatl an aztec goddess who watches over the death (Known today as "La santa muerte" by some mexican folk). And maybe takes inspiration from Abbadon aswell (The Abbadon from the bible, not the one in this franchise)

But his rol is more of a guardian of the dead in the heavens (His name translate as "The one whom God helps"), he clearly is one of the inspirations to the people to create the Grim reaper aswell, but is not it. My point is tha the Grim reaper is an entity that doesn't belong to any mythos, is just a more modern conglomeration of different beliefs.

@@WaldoTheWombat Most of the angel and demon Darksiders characters are based on angels and demons who are actually named and exist in biblical mythos. Azrael is known as the angel of death, both in Darksiders and in real life biblical lore.

Death is a good guy acting as a bad one. And thats how they made him an excellent character. Even with his mathernal (yes, mathernal) instincts when he interacts with Pup

Darksiders 2 was so good. Loved Death's voice. It fits him perfectly. He's a super edge lord but it doesn't cross into cringe territory imo and enhances the story as his character softens over the course of the game

Death is a wonderful character, despite his name. He does whatever he pleases for the sake of the Balance, most importantly he cares for his brother. He has no evidence War didn't caused the Apocalypse, he just believes he's innocent.

Death is edgy enough to be cool and entertaining, but not so much that he becomes unbearable. A great balance, honestly.

Someone should’ve shown death some videos of black friday stampedes or our political systems. He wouldn’t be in such a hurry to resurrect humanity after that.
