Just Blaze & Young Guru talk Rocafella Days, Keep It Real Wednesdays, Cam'Ron, Freeway + More

Ойын-сауық

www.hardknock.tv Just Blaze and Young Guru sit down for an exclusive conversation on Hard Knock TV. In Part 2 Just Blaze and Young Guru start off talking about early Rocafella days and how they think there won't be a conglomerate like that again for several reasons. As the interview continues they share stories of how Keep It Real Wednesdays came about and how producers would get laughed out of the studio if they didn't bring their a game. Just Blaze goes on to say how he decided who got what beats including stories of how Cam'ron got the beat for Welcome to New York City so Jay-Z could jump on the track and how Just Blaze made the beat for Roc Da Mic for Freeway and then Beanie Sigel heard it and jumped on it.

    Man Just Blaze was the shit in the Rocafella days. One of my all time fav producers. One of the few producers that made crazy sample beats and equally dope composed beats.

    "everything sounds good loud" - exactly. this is one of the crucial nuggets from this interview. This is why I don't fuck with a lot of 'loud' beats in hip hop. They're usually shit. You can tell a great beat when you're just listening to it on regular stuff with medium-to-low volume.

    I remember when Young Guru and were deejays at our college radio station. He was a freshman at the time, a good dude. I also remember DJ Supreme helping him prepare in his dorm for the DJ battle of the Hip Hop conference.

    That’s ridiculous. Just & Ye always got along very well. Besides there’s no way it could’ve been Ye giving the fact that him & Just were the in house producers on the Roc. They even worked together later on, Just produced the only record that Ye didn’t personally didn’t do on Late Registration, “Touch The Sky”.

    ???? Blaze has been making classic since the late 90s! How is he the "new" anything. He made half of Jay z first blueprint. Thats was 2001...and he was making shit before then I just cant think of it off the top

  • @TonySummerz

    @TonySummerz

    First off, ALL the beats on "The Blueprint" album were originally created for Ghostface Killah. RZA inspired that entire album musically. Secondly, it was a Wu-Tang affiliate (Killah Priest) who brought Justblaze into the game. Kanye West, Justblaze, 9th Wonder, MF DOOM, Madlib, Alchemist, Havoc, etc..ALL follow the RZA's "train of thought" musically. Know your hip hop history....

    TonySummerz Thats everyone's response to obviously misguided opinion.. "DO your research" .. I don't have to do the research. I lived most of this Hip Hop history. None of the Producers you named copied RZA except maybe 9th Wonder (& he jacks Premo style the most). You sound a deranged WU Fanatic. YOu said NF Doom copied RZA? MF DOOM was was producing b4 WU Tang existed. shrug. HAvoc & Alchemist sound nothing like RZA & HAvoc was producing when WU tang dropped 36 chambers. Remember Mobb Deep debuted the same year.. Stop making connections that arent true. YEah Just Blaze was introduced by Killa Priest, but his production style is nothing like RZA
