Is this the future of aerial warfare, or a $1.5 billion misstep? This is not a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, though it looks just like one. It's actually a drone an unmanned combat aerial vehicle, to be precise. Developed by Northrop Grumman, this prototype has shattered records. It's the first full sized UAV to perform an autonomous carrier takeoff and arrested cable landing. And, it can even do autonomous air refueling, mimicking a fighter jet in every way. With speeds of 600 mph or Mach 0.8 and a range of 2,100 nautical miles, it's no cheap knockoff. Originally set to be scrapped, the Navy found it so impressive that they kept it for further development.
