I have deep ingrained memories of my mums old Jura growing up and it's various sounds as it made her a coffee in the morning; I could hear it down the hallway as I delayed the inevitable rise for school. It lasted for more than 10 years and died a couple of years ago.

read the manual first before reviewing. it's not allowed to adjust the grade of the beans when not operating..

Say that again? Only can change the grind when it's operating? Only when it's running?

I have one in white. Perfect machine but that water tank can be pain to clean at the bottom if you have larger hands. Otherwise love it.

This is one of my favorite reviews of the Jura ENA 8. I have to say, it was a big influence on me buying one last week! Now looking to order the coffee you so liked! Thanks for making this review.

Does this have preset setting for the various brew type? I was thinking of getting this for my parents but not sure they will have a clue how to program the brew each time.

How hot does the milk really get? I had to return a J80 because it was so tepid I'd have to microwave every cup to achieve something satisfactory. This seems to be a big drawback with these automatic machines. The Meile may be the better choice for this problem, but at this point, I'm not going to buy one unless I can try one.

@@rhysholley8289 Unfortunately or maybe it's fortunate I have stuck with my semi-automatic machine. I can control the whole thing. I really would love to touch a button, and have it come out right, but I'm doubtful the tech is perfected enough. But I'll keep looking. Another bummer is I haven't had a chance to get into a coffee shop anywhere that has a machine ready to demonstrate. I'm going to stop buy a Williams Sonoma maybe and see, but doubtful they have this one on their tables.

I am not sure that water tank is practical... i mean water vase :) The way it sticks out, it consumes that width in space, plus it does't look like it holds a lot of water. They should have just done one that's rectangular and flushed against the side but very narrow.

  • @LERobbo

That vase is the weakest link in this machine's design. My new ENA 8 had a broken base for the tank with first use ; Jura fails to mention you need to twist the tank first and then lift, otherwise you'll break the base. Then there's the holder for the IWS filter, it will pop out of place. I am afraid this ENA 8 will not even reach half the lifespan of my previous Jura machines. And at that price that's not acceptable, so probably this is my last Jura.

its all relative, $5 per day at starbucks ($1825 per year) and the coffee is garbage. comparatively, i have a jura that is their higher end model, cost around double the Ena 8, and i get fresh beans delivered weekly. produces an amazing espresso. over 2 years, the machine is paid for, and cost of coffee is covered, for about the same cost as the $5 starbucks options, yet my machine will march on for another 5 - 10 years.

My Ena 5 just sprung a leak which I cannot repair... but she is 12 years old so I can forgive her. Purchased the Ena 8 and hope she lasts just as long. The longevity of my previous model was a major factor in my purchase.

@@gosman949 Great mate 👍 I am in Australia fyi. I have the S8, and I bought her approx 2019? (maybe early 2020?). No failures to report, 10k+ shots on the clock. Great machine, absolutely worth the $. I now buy my beans from Aldi. Omg! I hear you gasp lol. Worry not dear reader, for these are date roasted in Melbourne by a serious coffee roasting outfit (google 'black bag coffee roasters' if you are curious). They are $11 a kg for their dark roast which is just sublime, I am very picky with coffee so this is high praise indeed. I can generally get them a week or two old, which is optimal freshness. Too fresh and gasses are still exiting the bean from the roasting process and crema is approx 50% of the shot, beyond a month old and there is no crema, so from my research, the coffee boffins suggest 1 - 4 weeks is the optimal freshness window. Interestingly I was paying $80 a kg for boutique beans, and tbh the Aldi beans were better lol. Apologies, getting sidetracked with beans. I follow the cleaning schedule religiously, filters, cleaning tablets etc, these will run you ~ $100 a year (depending on how much coffee you make). I pull 6 shots per day minimum, then some days 10 / 12 etc. I am just roughly adding up what its costing to run it. I go through 1kg of beans per fortnight, $286 for coffee ($11 per 1kg bag), milk $300 for milk, cleaning products $100, thats about it, so I am all in for approx $700 per year, which is nothing in my view. Works out to be not even $15 per week, and you have your own machine, beans, milk etc, and tailored how you like it. I could probably really chop down that weekly cost if I wanted to say $5 per week all in, bu I am a coffee addict so there is no point. Down the road a way, approx 2 - 3 years (we may meet again lol) I am renovating my house, and I am toying with the idea of a built in machine, VZug Coffee Center, Bosch Series 8 Built In Coffee Machine, something like that. Not having experience with these, I explore options with trepidation, reluctant to discard a faithful workhorse (Jura S8). If I was replacing my machine with another Jura, I would probably look at the Z10, as it has a few extra features that the S8 doesnt.
