No, seriously though, I love what you're doing here mate and I'm going to spend a few hours in my basement working on this groove right now. Appreciate the solid lesson, especially tying the evolution from the double into hip-hop and into Drum N Bass.

Yes!! So glad to hear this opinion coming from a metal drummer! Have listened to metal for 30+ years, DnB only the past 15 or so, but I love the complexity of both drumming styles. In fact, I'm convinced that Dave Lombardo would have a hell of a second (third, fourth?) career as a DnB drummer!!

41 years old and I just started playing drums. I've been able to get the amen groove pretty close off the jump because I have been listening to drum and bass since I was a kid. I'm still working on my time and technical skills to get better results and ability to improv and play with the pattern

Mad respect! While I love producers who design their drums via synth, there is certainly a difference between the producers who manipulate audio and the producers who play the kit, record it, throw it in a sampler and process their own sounds. The live drumming creates a better sound, especially in loud systems.

Thank you, mate, for having shared your knowledge about the matter and congratulations for your work! And if I'm not saying stupid things, don't you believe that jungle/drum'n bass drumming sounds particularly British, although we all do recognize the universal aspect of Music as a language? As if all those terms of the American culture of the stuff (hip-hop, funk etc) had just suddenly started to speak more English than other language, like in the case of Rock after Beatles, Led, Floyd, Purple.

Most of the drum and bass breaks if not all came from the late 60's to late 70's so anyone really wanting to know how these breaks were created should really check out people like Clyde Stubblefield and Bernard Purdie, it was people like these who made the these original percussion breaks which later everyone sampled for early hiphop and then later drum and bass, drum and bass just speeded everything up, no disrepect to todays drummers but seriously they do not compare to the original masters

Why do you only play one or two bars? Education learning requires repetition plus I like your beats brother. =)

It's a pretty common misconception that the actual drum makes a difference. It's mainly down to the recording, with eq and compression ect, and good heads and tuning.

DanKop I practice about 3 hours a day, don't act like his double kick (without heel/toe) isn't impressive.
