I love Robin Hobb but the level of action (at least in the first trilogy) is definitely lower than much of the other fantasy I’ve seen you read recently! But the depth of her characters and her world is unbelievably good. Reading Robin Hobb feels like cozying up by a fireplace ☺️

❤️ just an fyi but Robin hobb’s books aren’t action packed. They definitely have big moments, but it’s more focused on the character journeys. But it’s so worth it - no one in fantasy does character work like Robin Hobb. Her books have some of the most beautiful relationships I’ve read in the genre

Oh my god, I just finished the Bellies audiobook and I felt the same way. I was struggling with every sentence ending in a question mark! I think it ruined the book for me, so I'm glad you're soft DNFing it for now.

Oh girl… if you are waiting for battles and actions from Robin Hobb, you’re going to be disappointed. I wish you the best. I rage quit the series after Royal Assassin (book 2). Hopefully you enjoy it better than I did.

I don't want to make *too strong* of a comparison between Blood of Bright Haven and The Fox Wife By Yangsze Choo, but they do kind of remind me of each other. And I think if you enjoy slower, character driven stories, I would recommend checking out The Fox Wife! & I, too, am excited about episode 3 of your five star show down!!

omg I totally get what you mean regarding people speaking in question - that lilt upward (?) at the end of every sentence. I pick up (and am bothered by) the cadence in some speaking mannerisms and, frankly speaking, they drive me nuts - can't handle it. So, I too will avoid that particular book in audio.
