I love pouring over seed catalogs over the winter, Just dreaming of Spring. I like to try new seeds every year. I like to know the origin of the seeds and the story behind the seeds. Its important to seed save and keep these seeds in existence.
My Father in Law, had received Topaz melon seeds from a friend. The friends, great grandfather had received them from a Japanese internment victim. I kept asking for seeds and didn't receive any. This began my quest to locate these seeds. I was able to locate The Japanese Internment Camp Museum and they mailed me seeds. I am very excited to finally grow Topaz Melons this year in the garden. Link to Internment Camp above.
When we stop growing and forget the seeds. We loose them FOREVER.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten any seeds from my garden this year.
Thank you,
Till next time
Backyard Barb
